Saw your quest for British Quilt Shows, there is one called The Great Northern Quilt Show 31 Aug - 2nd Sept., Harrowgate. If you have ever been to York, etc., then Harrogate is a MUST. Very warm folk from Yorkshire.
The BIGGEST IN EUROPE IS Birmingham at the NEC 16-19th Aug.,2012. For more info, just google the above
London has a Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, London 11th-14th Oct.,
followed by Dublin (not Britain I know, but handy from Scotland) at the RDS., on 1st-4th Nov., which is where I got bitten by the quilting bug last year.
There are more, but those are the current ones now until the NewYear.
Briony, no British shows that I know of. I have a tough time getting to quilt shows, as I have 3 boys, 13, 7, and 2. But this year I am going to the Sewing and Quilting Expo in Raleigh. My DH actually got me a hotel room & I won tickets on Facebook yesterday. I am so excited! You can never stop learning and improving your quilting. I have been quilting since the 1990's, and I'm so hoping to take a machine quilting class. I really want to get better at that. How was the quilt show you attended? Did you take any photos? Great to meet you. Have a super day!
Hi Briony, The course is something of a mystery quilt. Each set of blocks, there are to be 20, is to b posted on the first of each month. The course information and the blocks are accessible through a link located in the lower left of the screen. I have downloaded those for January, but I've not started sewing them yet as I'm away from home until next Sunday. If you have trouble downloading, let me know and perhaps I can email them to you.
Yes, I have to say that Perry is special and needs to go back to Texas where he comes from. (Perry is the one that forgot his policies during the debt) Some times I wish we could just really vote for Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck.
It is interesting to hear your point of view. Being in the USA our president changes every 4 to 8 years and our congress is always changing some seats. I think that congress is useless right now, and has been for about 2 years, the republicans just wont work with the president on anything, I really think it is going to end up biting them all in the butt here soon.
On a fun note,
Other family birthdays are March 1st, April 11th, May 25th, November 12th, 14th, 25th and December 15th. Anniversary is March 22nd.
Briony, it is all over our news here, so I have to ask, how do you feel about Scotland wanting to leave Great Brittan? It would be interesting to hear what you think, pros and cons.
We are in for a cold snap this weekend, may be down to 0 over the weekend, I know that I live in Alaska, but man, I'm just not ready for another cold snap like that. I think I'm just getting to old for it.
I live in Southeast Alaska, it is a rain forest and British Columbia in on the other side of the ice field that separates our two countries.(Canada and the USA). I get more rain each year than snow and it is very green here year round.
When I learned how to Scottish Dance, I lived in Seattle Washington and was in Junior High School.
My store is slow today and so to pass the time I'm working on a Christmas sock for my husband. It has Marvin the Martian on it. I will post a picture when I get it finished. I'm still doing some outline embroidery on it. I should have it all finished by tomorrow.
