wow Melva! I'm so jealous!! It is a dream of mine to find a poor little fw tucked away somewhere for $20 just waiting for me to rescue it, lol. I see that you are from Ashland, we should try to get together sometime at a quilt show or something. I recently bought a 301 off ebay and discovered that they had card tables for them too, so I went on a hunt for one and found one on ebay also. She was in Toledo so I was able to drive there and get it without paying shipping. I paid $56 for it which I thought wasn't too bad; when I got there to pick it up, I noticed a "free" sticker on one side of it, lol. I guess we both made out on that one. I, too, collect toy machines and have found the best place to find them is at estate sales which my DH and I go to frequently. I will post pics soon of my sewing room makeover and you will be able to see some of the machines I have. Well, I'm off to quilt. Have a great day!!
Hello again! I hope you had a lovely birthday dinner! I just turned 50 on July 28 and then we had our 28th anniversary on Aug. 6, so we usually combine the two and go to our favorite steak restaurant.
I noticed that you have been quilting for a long time! I just learned 6 years ago. I was never interested in sewing, but my grandma had given me a machine and I wanted to learn how to make something. I tried a few easy tops, but I just wasn't having fun. For my birthday 6 years ago my brother bought me all of the stuff needed to make a quilt, including the Log Cabin book by Eleanor Burns. I made a lap quilt all on my own and even quilted it. I had so much fun and I was hooked from there! I only wish I'd have learned sooner!
I'm in a very small town without any quilting groups, guilds or classes, so I was very excited to have found this website. At first I just sat here not knowing anyone and I was bored, but then I joined several of the groups and really started enjoying myself. Everyone has been so friendly and helpful! Are you going to join some of the groups? They have one that's just for those who enjoy applique. I haven't done much applique' at all, but I'm wanting to learn more, so I joined that group, along with many others.
I have heard about the jelly roll race. The had a video on YouTube that someone on this site shared. It looks like so much fun! I envy you for having a guild to belong to; that must be so much fun!
Well, I suppose I'll go for now. Thank you for writing back!
