I have loved quilts since I was a little girl. My mother-in-law handpieced and hand quilted quilts for each member of the family for their birthdays and each Christmas. What a wonderful gift! I now belong to a quilt group that meets once a week and hand quilts quilts for charity and community members suffering burn outs. A wonderful way to relax and enjoy each others' company.
If you go to "forum" ( see the tags along the top of the page) you can ask questions under the heading "techniques". Then more people will see it, not just 1 discussion group.l have found it helpful. You can also ask about how to do things computor-wise on this site
Sew Cal Gal has a group on freemotion quilting on a domestic machine. There is a tutorial each month.:)
I agree with your comment on applique classes. I have started teaching appllique in one of my local shops. When they ask me how many students I need for a class, I always say "one". That's how people learn - one quilter at a time. Hopefully you will find a teacher willing to teach "you" how to applique. I'll help or give you any advise I can :)
I hope you have found help in the discussion on the Value of Value page. From the Rainbow Rotini home page, under the discussions group, you can click on either the name or the "continued" under the opening statement & this should bring you to the discussion. There are some great tips to help us improve this process.
