Tell us about yourself—as much or as little as you like.
Love to make little quilts or big ones, crochet, Brazilian embroidery, cross stitch, lived in TN for 29 years, now live in Ohio. Family and friend dedicated! Love animals. Christian faith. I love Singer Featherweight Sewing Machines and have a 1937 and a 1950. My first sewing machine I purchased was a Singer 735 Touch and Sew with a cabinet in about 1975. Since then I have purchased a new Singer Quantum
XL1,A new Bernina 730E which is my absolute favorite, and two other machines at yard sales. I purchase a Kenmore sewing machine at a yard sale for $15.00 a couple years ago. It was made in 2003 I believe. It sews like a charm! It only does straight stitch, zig zag and button hole stitches, but does a beautiful job. I have an old Singer Pedal machine that works, but I don't use it. I love the homey look of old machines!! I learned to sew on an old Singer treadle Machine when I was about seven years old. My Mother taught me to sew and I am so thankful she did! I have always hated to make my own clothing, but love to make doll clothing, especially for the 18" American Girl Dolls. When I moved to TN in 1981, I learned about making quilts. I so admired the beautiful work but could not afford to buy a handmade quilt at that time. I decided to learn to make them when I was offered a free quilting class thru my husband's place of employment so a friend of mine and I took the classes. I have been hooked every since. Life has hindered my sewing alot, but I am thankful for the knowledge I have learned by sewing. Life has NOT gotten in the way for buying sewing supplies, patterns and books, magazines, and lots of fabric! My stash is ready! I am reminded of a saying I keep near my sewing machine. "God Loves a cheerfully ripper". Yep, I have done my share of ripping out and trying again. Another "talent" my Mother insisted on me to do! Happy Sewing to you all! Hugs,
