"Wow, wouldn't that be nice ! I haven't heard of anyone who has, though. Hey, wouldn't that be a nice line of work? You'd get to see all kinds of sewing rooms...longarmers, neat attic hideaways, she sheds..."

Welcome on board.  When I first started I was buying fabric here, there anywhere.

Took a little while to realize that I needed to start planing ahead - color - size of quilt -design -how much to purchase. Now, looking at this plastic crate-like container sitting in my sewing room in a hidden corner I smile knowing that 17 yrs. ago I had big plans.  Most of these hidden fabrics are either strange materials, size, color. It has been a learning experience. Making new friends.  From time to time I donate my practice blocks to my G-daughters school along with some strips - squares - triangles etc.. I've been doing this since she was in the 2nd grade. Also, donate any finished quilt (youth size, infant) to one of our hospitals in N.H.   I have been wanting to go to Paducah, Ky. for the past few years.  I will make it someday.

That's so sad about losing your friend; 45 is just too young to go, in my opinion.  My aunt died last year from lymphoma and she was only 50.  She had three kids.  We were raised together and were only three years apart, so it's hard for me to believe she's gone.

When my dad died a few years ago I couldn't quilt for 6 months, and now this has been another long dry spell.  The thing is, quilting is what used to help me to not stress or worry about things and it made me feel good, so I don't understand why the mood won't come back.  I hope you'll be able to get back to it soon.

I joined this site because for one I was in a dry spell.  Also, I'm in a really small town without a guild or any quilter friends, so I thought this would be a good place to meet people.  I don't use facebook or anything like that, and it took me quite awhile before I figured this place out.

Anyway, my condolances to you and your family and his family.
