Happy Birthday, Charmaine. Hope your day is delightful...
Hi again! You must have clicked on Julies picture...in your friends section. She lives in Australia; I'm in Seaside, Oregon.
I read on your profile that you teach thread painting...I bought a few books about it because it sounds really fun. I'm in a small town without any classes, so I've had to rely on books and the internet to learn quilting.
I had two quilts on display in Paducah; they were part of "The Alliance for American Quilts" display with their annual contest quilts displayed. I've never had the opportunity to attend a quilt show, but it's kind of neat knowing something I made is hanging in one! I have also had some in Houston for "Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative". I enjoy making quilts for them because they are small (9"x12" or less) and I can learn new techniques. Threadpainting is the next thing I want to learn. Do you attend all of the shows? My dream is to go to Houston some year.
I'm pretty much a beginner; I started quilting about 6 years ago when I turned 45. I never learned how to sew and wasn't the least bit interested, so it was kind of a fluke that I made a quilt. And one was all it took to become hooked! I made quilts for all of my family members and now I mainly make them to sell and donate.
I hope you'll post photos of some of the quilts you've made! One of my favorite things to do here is view all of the wonderful quilts!
Thanks for writing back!
