Tell us about yourself—as much or as little as you like.
I am starting a new quilting project and want to brainstorm with other quilters for ideas and, hopefully, participation by those who are in the Bay Area of San Francisco.
My project is making quilts for previously homeless veterans in SF who are now residents of special housing just for them. These are mostly men, so flowerly quilts won't do.
I'm working on contacting local quilt shops for donation of fleece and other fabrics.
Anyone in my area who would be interested in working on this project?
How many quilts have you made?
Countless, for charity, over the past ten years.
Do you want to make quilts, or simply enjoy them?
I want to make quilts for needy people
How long have you been a quilter?
What is your favorite quilting technique?
I do what I call "taylored" quilting....stitching on top of all 3 layers of the turned down seams. I also have a long arm that I use for free-hand designs. Sometimes I make my own templates for accent designed to use on specific squares within a quilt.
Why do you quilt?
I love the feel, colors and possibilities of fabric. Quilting is something I can do to give to others that has a useful purpose.
