Kathy, you make me blush but I'm glad you looked at my quilts because it encouraged me to look at yours and WOW!!!
Your work is amazing so I feel that praise from you is praise indeed. How much fun is it to have this special place to see and "talk" to others who share our love and passion.
Absolutely beautiful! I'm afraid I failed hand quilting classes. A good friend tried and tried to teach me, and after many attempts to keep my stitches even, I decided I am better at machine quilting.
I remember many years ago trying to learn to hand quilt, the teacher kept repeating over and over to keep the stitches EVEN! Don't worry about the size of your stitches, just keep them even. They eventually got smaller and smaller and then I used a smaller needle and they became smaller yet. The key word is EVENESS! I do it all in a 14" lap hoop. My favorite batting is Hobbs 80/20.
Kathy, Wow, wow, wow! Your quilts and quilting are just beautiful. I would love to be able to quilt like this. I have a longarm but have only mastered swirls, loops and meandering. Just starting to practice drawing feathers on a dryerase board until I get the hang of it. Your work is gorgeous.
Thanks Kathy. You are right. I am becoming addicted to quilting. I am just learning, though. Your quilts are amazing. Hopefully some day I will be as good as you are. I see that you like doing wholecloth. Any tips? I am going to try to make one for my in-laws. Any tips would be greatly apprciated. I will be attemping this on a home singer machine.
The photos look gorgeous! I don't have the patience so I bought a Gammill LongArm for my quilting (oh, that's right, I don't do my own anymore -- no time). There is one quilt I make per year for the Xmas photo... Quilting is not easy on a domestic machine; I applaud you!
Oh wow Kathy...gorgeous work. I too love to do Trapunto. But it looks nothing like your beautiful work...so pretty. I hope you join in on the fabric swap with us. Would love to have you in on the fun. thanks for adding me to your friends list. Diana
Wow, Kathy, welcome to the quilter's site, I am fairly new at this, but like looking at all the gorgeous quilted items. New to the site, not so much quiltiing, but I do enjoy it. Your quilts are beautiful, do you have a quilting machine? Or is this hand quilting? I like either way....hand quilting hurts my hands, I do not enjoy that part..did make a few by hand, not now though. I usually sew them on my Elna Sewing-Quilting machine.
Thanks for the compliment on my quilts, I love doing them just like everyone else on this site. The hangers come from a company that we are independent distributors, we sell the hangers at all of the AQS shows. We are the only ones who have over 200 designs in our booth. Here is my website http://www.monaraeoriginals.com/
Thank you for your kind words Kathy, I've enjoyed quilting for a lond time, and hope to continue to do so, maybe even teach my grandchildren some day. Nice to have found a new quilting friend today.
