Hi Nancy. As you may notice, I have just joined myquiltplace. I saw your name on it, and remembered buying 4 embroidered blocks in Galway, Ireland a couple of years ago. Would they be your work? They were being sold to raise funds for a charity.
I just expected they were embroidered by someone in Ireland, but am quite excited and hopeful that they have travelled much further than that. I haven't done anything with them yet, but plan to include them in a quilt.....one day. Waiting with bated breath for your reply.
hi again nancy...just wondering how you are feeling now about the mystery quilt. i too am following, tho not member of group...didn't want to confuse things by signing up and not contributing. not a fan of modern quilt movement, in that it is not my preferred style. i do admire some of the quilts i have seen in online websites of modern quilt movement groups. do you think that you may go ahead and do this one later. i am saving the weekly pattern thingys too.
also, i see i neglected to post the link with the notes fr the aqs re: the letter everyone is discussing...sorry here it is
oh...& mine aren't ready for jurying yet either...now beth, sue (who started the discussion the link takes you too...) and several others here, that i can't remember names of right now, they are definitely juried class quilters. and they aren't pro...don't sell on websites...a couple do..but mostly they are just people enjoying this form of creative needlework like you & i.
hi nancy, just read comment you posted on the "mystery" group page (have been following along, looks like fun ..there will be some very interesting quilts come out of it), anyway the comment you made about those of us here at mqp who have "connected". i had had similar thoughts. also, as far as "trolling" our pages, they stated already that the indiviual that sent out the emails had gone to a bunch, and probably all with a team to help, the gallery photos we as members have posted here looking at quilts and deciding who would recieve invites. they also said that not everyone on site recieved invite. so...whatever...
btw...hi! :)) ..looked at your art work, beautiful. hope you are enjoying our little club here at mqp.
I think I chat way too much! I talk too much when I talk too.
That sounds really interesting about using Texture Magic for machine embroidery. I need to pull mine out and start playing with it again. I've used it in a couple of quilts and it always turns out great. I made my mom an applique' wall hanging and some of the flowers were made with the Texture magic and they really turned out nicely. I buy it by the yard because I love it so much.
Where have you been, Nancy? I haven't seen you around in few days. Did you do anything special for the holiday weekend? Nothing exciting here...hubby had to work and i've been here or sewing. Anyway, hopefully we'll be getting our swap fabrics back by the end of the week!
I'm having a lot of fun here now that I really know my way around. Especially since I don't have a guild in my area. There's one over an hour away, but it meets at a time that isn't convenient for me. I really would love to be around other quilters. Which is why I'm here!
Hi Nancy! If you click on "Groups" at the top of your main page you'll see the list of groups to join. If you want to add to a discussion it'll have a place to click on to join. For the "Forum" anyone can write there; you don't have to specifically "join". It took me a week to figure this place out, like adding friends and the e-mail function (there's an inbox at the top right side of your home page).
Also, on the left side of your page there is a list of items...if you click on groups it'll show a list of the groups you belong to. You may even be able to add a group from there. I'm not sure. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be glad to help. I'm glad you figured out how to add photos...someone asked for help with that and I had a hard time explaining it. By the way, I love your photos and hope to see more!
Hi Nancy! I've been here for a few weeks and really enjoy it. This is the only social networking site I belong to. No facebook or blogging for me! But I do use the blog function here. I'm retired and live in Seaside, Oregon with my husband of 28 years. I never learned to sew until I happened to pick up quilting 5 years ago. I just love it and am totally addicted! I'm not into machine embroidery or applique, but I sure love machine quilting! I love playing with all the fun threads (my favorite thread place is Superior Threads. Plus, they have an excellent education section). I pretty much like all aspects of quilting, but the longer I quilt the more things I enjoy (I swore I'd never make an "art" quilt, but have made several small ones during the past year.
