no it doesn't. i have noticed over the years, tho, that i have always gravitated toward older individuals for friendship. 'course there have been a few much younger too. have wondered of the older has anything to do w growing up w gramma as my primary adult & her friends...and as an adult a little too roudy and freewheeling for people in my own age group. whatever...fun ride & some great friends across the years.
we figured it up in recent ph visit, friends for over thirty years. she is in her 80's now & reliant on others for transportation etc. she did so much for me as young working wife & mother..feel like i can never do enough for her. our original attraction to one another was a common love of sewing, knitting, crafting, gardening etc etc. wide age diff but we never noticed. love her so... :)) and she loves the things i make for here..i tell her it is payback for all the toys & things that she made for the little love of sn over worked young nurse! lollollol...git even time! you betcha!!
no, i am spending an evening wandering and reading. i just saw the purse pic on garnies swap, loved it so went on my little search which led into the wider tangent then had to come thank you...lollollollo..already making plans tho, i think it would make a wonderful little "notion" purse for elderly friend, i got her some nice (read "sharp" :)) ) scissors etc recently & made her a cute little pin cushion...so that little purse needs to be added too.
hi marcia, reading & looking at the photos on garnie's itty bitty surprse fq swap, loved the little purse you made. searched quilalott and found it + a whole bunch more to read and wander off into & around in. thank you for the name of the site and the serendipitously delightful oppertunity to meander thru great links to GREAT pages, many that were duly added to my bookmark file of quilt/craft blogs. thank you!!
Marsha, I will have enough fabric if I use a two inch binding. It will be tough but if I am careful it will be OK. I am waiting until the end of September, to give sites a chance to answer my inquiries where I have placed them, but after that it is going to the long arm quilting lady. Also, thank you for your compliments on the quilts. I will try to post pics of the quilting on the Pink Peony Star. My LAQ lady did a great job with wreaths and feathers, lots of good stuff.
Marcia, I, too, think a girl would h ave been too much.....the boys are close to us and are very helpful. One grson was a swimmer and at every meet I would take handwork.....grdaughter asked to learn how to blanket stitch. I got her a felt heart and floss and showed her...that was all it took.....but that is the last time I seen her do that. She did make a few bags for her and her friends. I even bought her a new machine. Now, she is a beautician and just does hair and nails...no interest in sewing. Maybe when she is older, like yours...lol
Hi Marcia..thank you for the welcome.....oh I love applique...I could show a cute project, but the receiver is on here too...lol But today I fused down appliques for 4 round potholders. Started to do them by hand, but my arthritis in my right thumb is making it hard, so I probably will finish on my machine with a tiny zig zag or the blanket stitch.
Been married for almost 55 yrs and have 2 sons and 5 grkids, 4 boys and 1 girl..Glad I didn't have any girls..lol lol
