Congratulations on starting to sew again.  It sounds to me as if you have a problem sitting; I have had the same situation due to back issues and started sewing again 15 years ago.  At first I could only sit for 5 minutes and eventually built up to sitting longer.  I love quilting because if you work in a block format you can see that you have accomplished something.  FOr me, when I became disabled after leading a very active life, it was important for me to see that I had done SOMETHING.  Planning your next quilt in your mind is a very creative activity.  Ann Sayre

Hi Diana; your blog is showing on the main page, so I thought I'd come check it out.  I'm not into "real" blogging...this place is the first place I've done one.  I do enjoy reading a few, but I don't want to have my own; the one here will be fine where I can just write what I'm in the mood to write just for myself (of course it surprises me when someone actually reads a post of my rambling!).

Anyway, I joined about a week ago and I'm home disabled as well.  I used to be involved in various on-line quilt groups, but I was on the computer more often than not, so I quit them all.  That was a few years ago.  I'm not around any quilters and there are no quilt guilds in my area, so I was feeling lonely for quilting buddies and then I read about this site in a magazine.  I'm having fun setting up my area because it's all new to me.  By the way, how did you get the picture into your blog post?  It's really pretty.  The only pictures I have on my computer are ones I've taken myself...I don't know how to add free clip art to my photo section.  Anyway, it's neat with the colors moving around.

That's sad about losing all of your fabrics and stuff.  I'd be crushed and I don't even have anything special from other parts of the world.  I'd love to swap fabrics with people from other countries.  I wish there was a group called "swaps", that way there could be several going on at once...blocks, fat quarters, 5" squares, etc.  I know a person can set up a group, but again, I'm not sure how.  I sent an e-mail to the AQS about adding a group called "Newbies" because I've read several posts from new quilters and think a Newbies group would be good.  I'd love a group for Threadaholics too!  But I don't think that would generate much interest.  I do think a swap group and a newbie group would do well eventually.  I notice that the groups are pretty quiet considering how many members are here!  But I think this place is new, so it'll probably take time to get the ball rolling.

Well, I look forward to getting to know you!
