It is a snowy Monday morning and I am in a super up mood!  Last night I finished the the quilting for the Road to California quilt and even had time (went to bed at 1:30 AM) to make the first of five sunflowers I am appliquing on the back.  Here is a picture:The pattern is from New Zealand designer Ruth Blanchet and is intended for a wall hanging 26 x 34 inches.  Since I have lots of space to cover on the back of the quilt, I increased the pattern 200% and my applique of the five sunflowers and eight leaves will be 68 inches tall!  Hubby has gone skiing for 3 days in the Catskills so I can eat fast food and sew to my heart's content...oh yeah...I have to sleep and go to work too.  Here is the original applique pattern for just this sunflower:As I was finishing up this applique last night, it occurred to me that my daughter is probably expecting a photo for her and her husband on their wedding day on this quilt.  Drat!  One more thing to do my March 21....

Thanks ladies.  I hope to do two more sunflowers tonight and then two tomorrow night.  They take about 2-1/2 hours a piece to make.

I, too, am locked in because of snow.  This is so "summery" and warm!  Beautiful applique work!
