The latest adventures in machine quilting....

So, I finally drew a pattern on a quilt and quilted it...I am very bad at following curvy lines with that little round hopping foot. But the quilt is done and it will keep a child on the reservation warm. I"m trying to follow straight lines. My first day of doing this proved I'm much worse at following a seam line than I was at following a curving line.

Today I tried again.. my poor Irish quilt. I have to say I'm infinitely better now than I was at the start.. which isn't saying much, lol. It couldn't possibly get worse. I had planned to sell this quilt but I think now it's gonna either go to the res for a kid who likes green or to whichever of my nieces and nephews feels they need it. I now some people sell quilts that are not quilted really well, but I just can't do it.

I keep reminding myself that there was a time I sewed everything badly and I can only improve with practice..but gosh it's painful to be so bad, lol.

Well, I gotta say.. I'm barely learning to crawl, lol. It's funny, I've machine quilted on my regular sewing machine all my smaller projects for years..but now that I have the big machine, I feel like a complete dough head. Karen, I've been going to check them out and see what they have to offer..and youtube..maybe someone has a tip of where to look when you're using that tiny round foot. It can only get better right?    I hope.

Well, we crawl before we walk and walk before we run. I'm sure with a little practice your quilting will be just as lovely as your quilt tops! Hang in there, It will get better!

It's so good to hear someone else is going through the trauma of learning to machine quilt. I tried it years ago and did horrible, so have been hand quilting my small projects. I decided this year was my year to learn machine quilting.  If you haven't been to you might want to visit.  I purchesed a video class on machine quilting.  Their classes are great and they are yours to watch as often as you like for as long as you like.
