My heart breaks for a friend of mine. She has had more trials than any person should go through and now has lost her 25 year old son in the seas of Alaska.  For whatever reason he ended up overboard and the coast guard was unable to find him.  You can find more information at this link. No one should lose their child first.

I know, but I pray and hope that God gives her what she needs.  She has had so much heartache with her children and her marriage.  This one is the icing on the cake soo to speak

i have been told, dh best friend son spent several summers up there working on the fishing boats while going to college, & have read, the currents in & around those islands & channels are strong. i pray they find him, family needs closure. but as you & i both know from news of unfortunates lost to the waters of our not so passive Pacific here in our area of Northwest, sometimes families never get closure. but we can hope & prey.

dh & best friend spent time in alaska logging. many young men from this area go to alaska to work the fising boats during the slow ag work season. we spent our honeymoon hiking touring the coast on ferries. alaska is an incredible & at the same time, harsh land...beautiful & potentially deadly. many families from here share in your friends grief. my condolences to you & your friend, cheri. it can be as difficult to deal w loss of child or loved one of a close friend, as it is to deal w loss of our own. prayers for you all.

A mother's very WORST fear, losing a child.  My heart breaks for anyone going through such a tragedy.
