Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
Well, you are if you collect thimbles. Have you ever wondered about the history of the thimble? Since Hasbro has decided to “jail” one of Monopoly's game pieces, this places our beloved thimble in jeopardy. I decided to do a little research, and here is a brief summary of what I learned:
A thimble is the protective shield worn on the…Continue
They keep telling me that change is a good thing and I should embrace it. So I'm working on that (smile). The change I'm working on now is that we are adding a position and filling one that will become vacant.
AQS is adding a position of Associate Show Director. This person will work hand-in-hand with our executive show director to keep our shows fresh, lively, and full of fantastic quilts. This is a great opportunity for anyone who loves quilts and quilt shows and enjoys all the…Continue

As I make preparations for this year's show in Knoxville, TN, I'm remembering previous Knoxville Best of Show winners and wondering who will win this year. While we are hanging the quilts with the guild volunteers, we often oooh and awww over the quilts and pick a favorite of our own. It's always exciting when the winner is announced to see if we may have seen a quilt the same way the judges did. Sometimes we get it…Continue
My goodness it has been forever since I posted a blog. I can't believe it, where did the time go? I guess I got so wrapped up in moving, dealing with my daughter's schedule, my son's stuff, family stuff, flood water and not to mention another AQS show, that I just lost my mind, temporarily.
So, now that the Paducah show is over and we managed to get that pulled together…Continue

The once quiet office is now bustling with activity since the Lancaster crew has returned. They are tired, but it is a good tired. I’ve already heard stories about how nice the Lancaster area is to visit and how they enjoyed being at the Lancaster County Convention Center. Great stories about the quilters they met and helped at the show, the funny things that happened and lots more.
But it’s not all fun and games as we start right in on the Paducah show. All the last minute things…Continue

It has been very odd around the office this week with almost everyone in Lancaster, Pa., for our second show & contest there. We have had good reports and everyone seems to be having a great time. The show wraps up tomorrow at 5 pm. Our crew will head back home on Sunday and we wish them all blessings and safe travel.
Next week we will start the finishing touches on the Paducah show scheduled for April 27th - 30th. Not only is Paducah Quilt City USA® but it is…Continue

I heard from the AQS staff in Lancaster a few minutes ago. They are about finished with set up and are excited about the show opening tomorrow at the Lancaster County Convention Center. This is the second year we will have the show there and we are enjoying the city and the facility. I believe the vendors are happy, too, and working hard to finish setting up their booths.
I can’t wait to find out who the Best of Show winner is. That announcement will be made at 8:40 tomorrow morning…Continue

Oh my...only one week left to get things done! While I help answer the phones, the “show girls” are busy packing their goodies to load on the truck. This is always a hectic but fun time in the office. We always get excited before a show. New quilts to see, new quilters to meet, friends to greet, new things to buy! I've made my shopping list, have you made yours? See you in Lancaster!
