Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
Good Morning. In case you haven't noticed, the activity feed is not showing up correctly and not updating the way it is supposed to. Since the blog posts seem to be updating fairly well, I'm using this to try to contact everyone.
I have tried to change some settings to get the site working properly again, but that did not work. I have sent in a request for help from the network provider. I am waiting for a reply and a remedy for our problem.
Please be patient and know that we…Continue
Hello fellow quilting fanatics. This has been a very busy month around the Leiner household. We sold one rental house and bought two more so I have been kept from my quilting by landlady duties. But I am happy to report that I am making progress on the quilt for Beck and Todd, the quilt that has stymied me all year, and am to the point of putting the border on the black…Continue
My quilting friend, Riana Noyes asked me to do a post on the Halloween cross stitch quilt which is #108 in my albums. The following are pictures and some explanations/descriptions of how that quilt came to be.
First the back story. I have been quilting since I was 18 years old. I had my first child, Jamie at 23 and my second, Becky at 27. All through their childhood, I was making quilts and once upon a time, cross stitching as well. in 1984 or 85 I decided to do a Christmas…Continue
I know I have been incommunicato for awhile but I have been busy quilting! Here is the most recent quilt I finished just tonight, a few scant hours before Halloween. No, you are not crazy, this is a Christmas quilt. Sometimes, we just don't get to choose the timing of when things get accomplished.
The pattern is your basic log cabin with cross stitched Christmas…Continue
I the winter is coming upon us, I pretty much achieved a goal... I cleaned out my basement and organized nearly everything! Nearly organized enough to buy a different house... Plastic containers are my friends... it's been hard work, but now Im at the end of this haul....
I made a few dresses this summer, and a tunic... now I want to start on a wall hanging. I am hoping all my planning will make for smooth transitions so I can continue on my path!
Looking forward to a more…Continue
Hello Campers! Welcome to spring and are you all busy on your quilt projects? I am supposed to be working on my 2nd Daughter, Becky's wedding quilt (they will be married five years next weekend - I am a bit behind) and it has been a challenge from the get-go. We picked out the fabric last spring during a visit to her house in Plano, Texas. Here are the fabrics: Not feeling…Continue
My friend just bought a King Quilter 18-8 a few months ago. now she is going through a nasty divorce and needs to sell it. All she did was set it up and do some test stitching. It has a pantograph laser and a twelve foot table and also a stitch regulator. She wants…Continue
hi, I am an Irish quilter but get to visit to Longview Tx to visit family regularly . I will be there soon mid/end April and wonder if there are any quilt events or exhibits within travelling distance I could take in on this visit. I would be delighted to hear of ideas but don't want to travel too far either. I am interested in all types of quilting and find sewing a perfect way to relax after busy days and weeks of work.
We are a few weeks into the second half of my quilt show and here is the youtube video from the second half. I talk about two quilts in particular, Mosaic Wedding Quilt which belongs to my nephew and neice-in-law in Oak Park Illinois and Topography of a Marriage, the lastest wedding quilt for Tom and Artemis Vasilou, my unofficial third daughter. Here they are:…Continue
Hello Campers! Back at it again after a short hiatus. Life set me back abit between my father's passing and all the family visits this winter. I visited daughter Becky and granddaughter Sylvia in early February and daughter Jamie and grandson Wyatt were out here in Pennsylvania this week. Good times all around but I am glad to be back to spending time in my quilt…Continue
I have started finishing the hand quilting on a workshop piece from 2004.
In the meantime I was playing with hearts and made too many - so I have quilt labels and hearts for quick gifts down the road....I started playing with the disappearing 4 patch blocks in pinks & purples - grand daughter's favorite colors - her birthday is in June... So I will make her a lap sized quilt... I think I have a Problem! The hearts were addicting and the fast completion of the 4 patch blocks is…Continue

I was on Pinterest and saw a quilt made using the cut-through technique. It appeared on a Nancy Crow site. I have searched and haven't found information regarding the technique. I don't know if it is a cutting and sewing technique or merely a name for the appearance of the block. Below is a picture of the block, attributed to Ellin Larimer. Can anyone help? Thanks, Diana…Continue
Well a lot has happened since last I posted anything! We had to put our 80 acre ranch up for sale & are currently in Apache Junction, AZ looking for a place of our own. It's proving more difficult than we had anticipated; Tom, my husband needs a 'shop' and I need a "studio" in a newer home but so far have not been able to find one that suits 'both' of us. Either he is satisfied & I am not, or vise a versa. But we will continue to look. You may recall that Tom had built me a…Continue
