Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
My delightful mother in law made me a yo-yo table runner for Christmas. She has never owned a sewing machine and cuts each piece individually. She also made us a king size apple core quilt, cut, pieced and quilted, all by hand.Continue
To all of you who wanted to see my kitty asleep on my shoulder ,when I was reading a book.
I found the picture, but-there is no way it will go any where.
You see my husband took the picture -the picture dos'nt show mouse's head ,just his body ,but what the picture dose show is,my pajama top open and a very good view of my chest!!!. It dos'nt show every thing…Continue
A belated Merry Christmas to everyone. My computer was down for a week but I didn't want to give a holiday greeting. Better late than never. Chip and I had a just us day. No other relatives live close to us. I do miss the big dinners and everyone talking at once, but this was nice. Just us...and the cat, of course.
So, on to the new year! As Jackie Gleason would say...And away we go!
My long arm was locked up tight. It took me almost 2 hours. But I got it fixed.

ear Fellow quilters, I am in desperate search for 1 yard of Jenni Calo's Rhapsody in red line. I am looking for the white on white fabric with the paisleys. I am desperately trying to finish a UFO and ran out due to miss cutting several squares to short in my pattern, unfortantely I am half way thru the project and there is no turning back by picking a different fabric. If any one knows where to purchase a yard of it or has one they are willing to sell please let me know. Thank you so…Continue
Hello ladies and gents! Hope everyone's holidays are as wonderful as mine so far. We did one of my Christmas celebrations last night with my daughter, son-in-law, my son and his future bride. We had a blast! For whatever reason, I had to login to Facebook to show them something. Of course most of the posts are from my many quilting pages and friends. It's kind of ridiculous how many quilting pages I follow. Anyway...the kids were making comments about my obsession when they noticed what time…Continue
I can't believe another Christmas is almost upon us. My daughter does longarm quilting and of course she always gets a lot of quilts to do before Christmas. I do any bindings that need to be done so sometimes we are both feeling the pressure to get them done in time. Yesterday we got the last "need it for Christmas" quilt done and sent home. That is always a joy for both of us. Now on to the chex mix, the rice krispie treats and gingerbread houses. Merry Christmas and Happy…Continue

There have been a few times in my life when I was truly blessed beyond measure. The first was to be born in a loving family. The second was to have two daughters with an outstanding man. Mark and I married in 1973 when we were just babies, really, with no clue who we were or what marriage was. We hung in there for…Continue
Today is tree trimming day and we took a few minutes out to take our picture for the blog with our quilt "You Can Keep Your Hat On." It is a beautiful run up to Christmas day and snowing like crazy. I must admit this is the most relaxing December I have ever had as the quilt project wrapped up on…Continue

On my mother, Ramona's side of this family, there are six grandchildren, now all grown and spread out across the country with spouses and families of their own. But as children, these kids were all united for a week of fun in the summer time on what came to be called "Gramma week." My mom would pack up her…Continue
On Thanksgiving night, after most of the family had gone home or gone to bed, George and I had the opportunity to spend some quiet time with my sister Bev and brother-in-law, Bob, talking about the day, the family, the future. I had the opportunity to tell my sister that I considered them and their lovely home to be…Continue

One of the most satisfying things in my life this past decade has been purchasing sewing machines for my two daughters, Becky and Jamie. Ironically, it was my oldest daughter, Jamie who asked for the machine but my youngest daughter, Becky was the one who really took to the craft. How often do you get the…Continue

Mothers and daughters. The eternal struggle to both define ourselves as "nothing like our mothers" and cherish those things that make us alike. We look so much alike, my mother and I, that MY grandson, Wyatt calls her Gramma Gigi, which is his name for me. We both love books and movies,…Continue

Hope, Kate, Hannah and Josiah people the happy household of my nephew, Brian and his wife, Jennifer in Pasadena, California where "Christmas Postcards from the Edge" now joins the clan. Brian and Jenny were the first of the cousins on my mom's side of the family to marry and have a jump…Continue

The holidays are the time of year when I am a bit pensive about my children and their families living far from George and I. This morning as I sit in my breakfast nook in cold and snowy southwest Pennsylvania, listening to Christmas CDs and sipping my tea, I feel simaltaneously very far and very close to my…Continue
Is there a boy in there? find the boy among all the stuffed animals and oh yeah, here is his Christmas quilt. Jamie and Jeff, my daughter and son-in-law, Wyatt's parents, told me they picked out this quilt for him because they thought it was something that would grow with him, not be too young for him as he got…Continue
This is the first of 15 posts featuring the new owners of the quilts of "2013 - The Year of the Christmas Quilt" featuring my baby sister, Denise with her husband Martin and their dog companion, Campbell. Denise says she selected this quilt (after her niece, my daughter Becky took "And We Like Sheep")…Continue
