Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
I was going to work on my UFOs in 2011, but in January I walked into my local quilt shop and fell in love with a class sample. I signed up for that at the beginning of the year, and I finished the year helping my sister make her first quilts.
So here is my list of UFOs to work on in 2012:

I strongly believe that every quilter has a big heart and is always looking to help spread the word. What do you do with your extra fabric? Or how about supplies you no longer use? I have a Mother-in-Law in a nursing home. Recently they held a sale at the facility, I then found out that a resident had made quilts and sold them to the staff and residents. I decided to gather some of my fabric and go meet this lovely lady. She was so happy because she doesn't have the money to purchase…Continue
My name is Karen and I'm a quiltoholic.
It's something I have had to face and come to terms with. One year ago I was a responsible, hard working mother of three spending all my time, energy, and money on my kids and wonderful boyfriend. It was a normal life and all but one of my children had moved out, my mother's poor health deemed it necessary for me to retire ...I found myself with lots a free time. I guess that new found freedom to pursue something for my own pleasure was too…Continue

I went home to Boston last week and saw some of the baby quilts I have made for friends and family for the first time since I gifted them. They looked so different from when I gave them to them, but I loved it! It felt so good to see the colors a little faded from constant washing, use and love and the fabric all broken in and soft. Made me want to make more baby quilts! My sister has commissioned a few baby quilts for me to make for her friends with kids, and we took a trip to Joanne's…Continue

Whew! It has been a long while since I have poked around this site and posted. I have been busy; making 3 quilts in the past 3 months- a record for me. 1 was raffled off at work this week and happily won by one of my good friends. She really hoped she would win it and I'm so glad she did. The other 2 are wrapped and under the tree. I can't wait to see the faces of my parents and daughter when she opens them. I was so excited to finish them that I wrapped both before I took pictures! I will…Continue

I've discovered recently what it really means to me to have the opportunity to be creative. I realize that life takes it out of you, while quilting puts it back! I know that it could just as easily be drawing, painting, knitting, writing, singing, walking, running, or quilting. Whatever activity you find that feeds your soul will be the activity that makes your heart sing. And, how could we want anything but that?
The difficult part is trying to figure out how to fit…Continue
It is almost Christmas and where I live doesn't look quite right. There is no snow. I don't want slippy roads but snow would make the season more festive and the scenery more pretty.
We went green this year and bought a live Norfold Island Pine. Reminds me a little of Charlie Brown's tree.I
I have made a wall…Continue
