Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
At about 9:45 tonight, Halloween, after spending two hours handing out candy to 200 kids...in the rain, of course and enjoying hot dogs at the neighbors afterwards, I finished the quilting on the last of the 15 quilts. Whew! and three days ahead of schedule too!
I will take a picture of the last quilt, called "One Wild Christmas Ride" tomorrow in the daylight and post. It turned out much nicer than I expected. But I do think it will take a very special person to pick this…Continue
Just a not to all my friends. I have finished making Christmas stockings, mug rugs, and iphone pouches for the craft store. I have made some soaps also and a few spa items on order. My Mom is going for an MRI as she fell in her yard and hurt her back. At 85 that is bad. I am in Florida, my sister in Boston and my brother close by her home. My brother has been sacked with all the Alzheimer problems in addition to working full time. It is not easy handling situations from afar. The more I read…Continue

The afternoon was very pleasant and a surprise because Dave and Roger came to my home and spent the afternoon with me. I can't remember the last time I've had such a relaxing afternoon. They loved Indy and I think Indy loved them because he didn't growl and bark at them. Dave asked to lay down for half an hour. So Roger asked to see my gardens and Indy needed out anyway. We walked around for a while and Roger liked my Secret Garden. We then went back into…Continue
finished them yesterday. They fit pretty well - no pictures because, well, navy! I need more winter weight pants...
Recently I purchased material for two charm square swaps. I don't know what I was thinking!!! I came home from the fabric shop, cut out my squares and went right to the post office and mailed them out. Now I always wash my fabric before I use it but I was so excited about participating in the fabric swap I just did not think about it. The squares I had left I threw in the machine with some other fabric I had purchased. When I was ironing the fabric I noticed that the charm squares were a…Continue
Priscilla, your email asked me to contact you after seeing my profile. I'm not seeing your friend invite on here and mousing over your email address gives me a warning message.
Please re-invite and/or comment here w/your last name so I can verify and reply? Sorry to seem wary, but I've had some trouble with bad email links and just want to be sure you are legit before I respond. Thanks,
Woke up tooooooo early this morning and in the worst mood EVER! May I say why? DH....no not DH (dear hubby)...this time it means "dumb, dumber, dumbest hubby" (DDDH) moved all our furniture around while I was in Georgia! This means he messed with my quilting situation. Let me back up. We had our bedroom re-done because the house was hit by a drunk driver. So we had to live in my sewing room during the renovation which originally had, among my sewing stuff, a couch...as well as a TV.…Continue
It's a cold Saturday morning as I sip my tea and munch my pumpkin muffin breakfast. I worked til about midnight last night (1 AM the two night in a row before) and I am about ready to hit the shower then hit the quilting again. It has been a very productive three days with quilting and other things: the refrigerator got a new compressor, my dad had a successful angiogram and stents (in Chicago; I was only there by phone), and I plotted with my co-conspirator daughter Becky on how we are…Continue
Hello quilting friends...I have been so busy, my head is spinning. I am making quilted Christmas stockings, mug rugs, iphone and mpg pouches, enough already!!! It is a super way to use up all those scraps. A friend is opening a craft shop and we were invited to sell. Hubby makes the best candied pecans the world has ever seen and wonderful smoked sea salts. I run the business end of Paradise Chili Co., besides packaging, sales, ordering, and bookkeeping. He also is an excellent cook and his…Continue
Well, I have shipped the husband out of town again, this time to Eugene, Oregon for a 4 day conference. You know what this means, right? Non stop quilting marathon time!
Things have been going very well in Leiner Quiltland. 12 quilts are all quilted, the 13th one will be finished tonight. That leaves the last two to hopefully get quilted while George is gone. They are relatively easy quilts so I should be able to accomplish this goal or get damn close. On my schedule from hell,…Continue

A good sewing room needs good lighting, ergonomically correct work stations, and be organized in a way that makes it easy to locate tools when needed. The sewing area in my basement laundry room was ok., but not efficient... plus l bought a midarm that needed a place.
A budget of $400. came about by selling my…Continue
Has anyone out there done a BOM that they didn't like? I'm currently in one and I really will be glad when it's over.
I'm actually in three BOMs. Two in-store that we attend, and one through the mail. My favorite is at Common Thread in Tigard (near Portland) Oregon. Last year we did Wing and Prayer's Rhapsody and now we are completing their Contessa. These are beautiful, complex quilts that have a distinct challenge each month. But they are organized! The patterns are…Continue
I'm on the "My Blog" page, but I don't know how to do this.
Does anyone have the time to help me start a blog of my own?
I haven't blogged for awhile because I have been very busy with homework from a quilting class that I am taking. I love the pattern but boy is it time consuming to make - first, quilt each blocks background using any variety of stitches, then applique the pieces and finally use different feet on the sewing machine to do some fancy stuff. This month's homework was very time-consuming - I have logged in 40 hours so far and my back hurts. I have had to resort to taking the sewing foot off, and…Continue
I have seen so many new people joining this little quilt group in the last few days. Its winter and time to do inside stuff. I so enjoy reading everyones posts. All the gardens put to sleep for the winter . All the outside chores done. Now its time to sit and sew. I have been trying to get my best friend to join but she doesn't facebook hates it . I tried to tell her this is different than facebook. these are all mature women who mostly discuss quilting . A very social place to make friends…Continue
