Well, I got another project finished...the Challenge Vest I have been working on since June. It is ready to show at my Guild meeting in October and put in our quilt show in November. I am so glad it is completed. It wasn't all that difficult, but I kept procrastinating.

I started a new project today and I feel so guilty and conflicted because I haven't finished my other one yet. But I have 3 quilts I want to make for Christmas gifts and one that I promised work for a raffle so I really don't have the time to finish the other one at this time. I've really only been a one-at-a-time kinda girl. I worry about keeping supplies and fabrics separate and organized. Do you work on multiple projects at once? What are your strategies for keeping them separate and… Continue

I am between two quilt groups and enjoy their work but they are always working on large quilts. I have helped in communty and run Loving Hands Ministry which includes all different mediums of making blankets and throws for all different ages and special needs. Right now our Baby Blanket Brigade has set up a group on this site to get all of us remembering the preborns, preemies, and newborns in our area. I really need to get our word out and we can build Loving Hands Ministry--Baby… Continue

I have been noticing lots of quilters talking about the Knoxville Quilt Show. My husband and I are one of the vendors at the AQS shows. From my view point the quilters are the best people on this earth and I'm one of them. I would like to know if any of you happened to be in our booth. I have attached a photo. Let me know what you think. I have been using these hangers for 28 years and about 8 years ago we started selling them, as Independant Distributors,… Continue

I am sure that everyone is having a heat wave!!! Thank goodness for AC and a pool - but it's even too hot to be outside!! Had a new student start today - and I have been getting emails and calls - hopefully I will get more eager students!
My little students are working on their quilts, and one 'quilted' hers on the big machine!! My students also helped make squares for a 'Quilt of Valor' that has been assembled, and next step is binding, and finishing!!
My daughter is changing… Continue

Wow, what a wonderful quilt show in Knoxville put on by AQS. What do I like best about a quilt show? It is hard for me to answer my own question. I would have to say that for me it is looking at the quilts and seeing how these amazing quilts were pieced and quilted. There are so many talented people out there who can do such unique techniques when they get some fabric and sit down to sew. I also love meeting other quilters and seeing the venders.

Why do we have computers??????? I'm spending so much time on it every day. I suppose that's good, but I'm not quite sure. Maxine is coming home this weekend I think she had enough of the really cold weather. After having a good time with her family. At least she got to see the snow for the first time in her life and learnt what it is like to be really cold. The temperature change is very dramatic from where we both live now.
Today at least I am feeling brighter, but I have spent… Continue

Hi All, I'm going to my very first quilt retreat this weekend and am very excited and nervous at the same time. I have really been having anxiety about what little quilting I have done as I am always comparing myself to others around me. Having to work at getting over this and get on w/quilting! Anyone else out there have this issue from time to time?

In 30 years of quilting I don't even know how many irons I have gone through. My husband and I have kind of counted at least 20, I remember one particular year going through 4!!! I have bought cheap ones and very expensive ones thinking they would last longer, wrong. Well I am so excited that at the Knoxville Quilt show I found an Iron I'm excited to try. It comes highly recommended by Fons and Porter, it is an Oliso. Even better they had a special $50 dollars off… Continue

I'm seeing others are saying that they are also getting this hot and humid weather. I am from South Central Minnesota and when I looked at the temp today it was 94 degrees and the dew point was 79 degrees the heat index was over 100 for the second day. We are to having this for 4 more days. It is too hot to sew, too hot to quilt, too hot to look for new projects. Too hot for anything. Sorry for the whining!

It's cold and wet and the heaters on. All I can think of is how much its costing me! Our Prime Minister has now put a price on carbon. Yes its all about money. Without it, you can't live and even with it you can't live. My life revolves around the almighty dollar!!!!!!
I've spent the last couple of weeks battling adware and spyware and finally my pc is deciding to work (touch wood). Its been consuming alot of my time. My quilitng has been non-existing. My neighbour is away… Continue

- I want to sign up for a class with Laura Wasilowski. She’s fun!
- I didn’t know you could have a negative score on a scavenger hunt. Minus 3, how embarrassing!
- After the Name That Tune segment I wondered whether I was the only person in the audience who has Lemonade Mouth songs on my iPhone and a Phineas and Ferb CD in the car.
- I must shop more. I had no clue for many items during The Price Is Right.
- Quilters are a friendly and fun group of people, but…

I have started a scrappy Jacobs ladder about 2-3 weeks ago and all I have really managed to get done is the cutting and the half square triangles. Maybe this weekend I'll have the time and energy to work at it . The weather people are saying that it is to be very hot here and high humidity. And that means miserable to be outside. I get so tired of listening to the AC running! So I am going to try to get interested in sewing or maybe I can do some more quilting on the another quilt. Sure… Continue
