Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
Well it only took three weeks longer than it should have to sew up the latest wedding ring quilt..darn hand is still hurting quite badly. I love typing one handed, lol. Not to mention doing everything with my left hand..I need a bib to eat anything requiring a fork or spoon. Crazy. Hopefully it's at that point where the pain is the worst, you know when you're swearing to cut off the offending part and then a few days later it's completely fine for no apparent reason. I'm hoping for that. …

A couple people asked me about the Giraffe Baby Quilt that I made using Patty Reed Designs "Jungle Babies." They wanted some instructions.
I have recently started a new website about my quilting and a new blog that is accessible right from the website.
It is accessible at www.quiltasdesired.co/blog.html (soon to be .com).
Hope this helps!…

Well, its summer again and since I am off (I teach middle school math), it is time to start planning my summer projects. Of course, I need 4 or 5 baby quilts since the staff in my building is quite young and we seem to hold about 5 showers a year. My best friend is about to become a mom again after 21 years. YIKES! Plus I want at least one more quilt for myself. I have lots of ideas though and I am sure I will get it done. My favorite medium is applique and I have several good neutral…

Run run run....well, the son graduates in the morning and my sewing area is cleaned up. Mostly. I decided that as I have decided to do business with and sell some of my quilts through a new craft shop in the area, then I consider it my office. lol....
Hubby agrees.....that's all that matters......

And so it is. I am getting ready to head out to take my son to graduation rehearsal...he graduates high school on Saturday. It's the end of an era because he is the last of the teens to graduate and head out to make their own way....his,like his brother before him, begins with summer job and college in the fall, away from home. My stepdaughters opted to head into the work force when they finished high school. The only left at home will be the "ours" of mine and my husband's marriage....she…

I'm one of those people who sleeps about five hours a night. No matter what time I go to bed I wake up really early. Since I live in a really old house with a lot of "noisy" character I try to do quiet things until mid morning as not to disturb everyone else still sleeping. I check my email, check Facebook, check this place....and then I work on my hand quilting projects. I just love this time of day to quilt for several reasons, one is that I can work without interruption. But the best…

After taking a class with Judy Matheson in 2006, this one is finally finished. It began with the Mariner's Compass but I didn't have my stash with me for the class, so found the results a bit boring. I posted the circle on my blog asking for advice. Besides, I didn't want to add corners and make it square. One of my readers said it looked like a big sun. I found several…

I am finding as I contemplate what to write about in this blog, how often real life intersects with my quilting. I start to write about different aspects of quilting, but whatever is going on in my life, gets told in here as well. Now is an exciting time for our family, as one daughter just graduated from college and the "baby" will graduate from high school in two weeks.
For her, I have a quilt top started that needs to be done, but probably won't be. If I did an all-nighter or put…

Today is my mom’s 88thbirthday so I made her favorite dessert, an angel food cake to enjoy for her celebration this evening. I just added a cup of water to a packet of dry mix out of a box, turn on the mixer for a minute, put the whipped mixture in a tube pan and slid it into the electric oven.
Then I thought of the old recipes I came across while researching my recipe book, …

Hi everyone!
My name is Chie (pronounced "chee-ay" - I'm originally from Japan), and I'm writing this in Mississippi! This is my first blog post here, and I'm slowly working on my very first wall hanging for our living room.
I was very inspired by Missouri Stars Quilting Co. Quilting Tutorials, and I just had to start machine quilting. Ms. Jenny is…

So yesterday I did not have to be in to work until 2, so I took the option of sleeping in a little....my son who is a senior gets himself up for school, so while Monday was his last official day, he had to go back Tuesday to take his last AP exam....hubby gets daughter out the door on his way to work, oldest son didn't have to work......
So about 945am the phone rings....oldest son gets to it first as I stumble out of bed and it is my hubby.....he has a cousin who does wreaths and had…
