OH!! :)) ..if you have access to airplane tour it! i am a RN & did a little air ambulance beyween there & 'frisco. flying over the northern redwood region is breathtaking! the high grassy mountain meadows of kneeland, the coastal redwoods ...all seen from the air! wow! there was a very active group of ultralite enthusiasts located around eureka area for a few years. they seemed to love flying over the bay a lot. sometimes thier photos were published. photos are nice but i would love the opportunity to fly over that mud bay at low tide :))

tuna sand almost gone --mostly to my little elder lady (in my avatar) back out to cut brush & wild trees encroaching on the yard & garden area :(( ... have a good one! :))

i have only passed thru Tennessee traveling to & fr construction jobs w hubs years ago. before son & i got nailed down in humboldt. i am a rambler at heart, son & i used to wander the hills and shorelines from crescent city in north to redway and then inland.

ya gotta do - if you enjoy scenic day trips

... wild cat highway out of ferndale all the way down as far as the road goes. then you cut back over to 101 & back up to fortuna.

...Hwy 36 ..over to redbluff & back or turn off at Peanut and go wander in that scenic little mountain area w little old remains of timber towns. not ghost towns.. just nice quiet very rural mtn communities. ...oh, and stop and get a t-shirt "i drove hwy 36 & SURVIVED!" lollol ...tho not as wild a ride as it used to be. but it is incredibly beautiful. go on weekends...but even then you watch for gyppo loggers that don't work by the union clock of mon-fri 9-5 :))

.. hike lady bird johnson park

..hike every trail & beach in Patrick's Point State Park area. and there's still gazillions of agates just lying on the sand at Agate Beach

all little fun things to do in your time away fr quilting :)) really is an incredibly beautiful area. i use to carry a camera bag for a pirse. was asked at work a few times "why?" ..i would tell them that humboldt county was so beautiful that no matter where you were, which way you turned...there was a spectacular scenic photograph waiting to be taken.

enjoy your time there. maybe your youngin's can visit before you head back home to Tennessee.

good morning sandi - reading your posts in various spots this morning while eating Brunch & readying for afternoon chores. came to ck your home page ..just 'cause :)) ..hadn't noticed in previous visits that you're fr Fortuna! ddh is eureka native, and while he traveled to jobs around USA, my son & were parked at the fam farm where i single parented for ten years...then just lived the quiet single life for 4 more after son left for college. beautiful area. we lived lower slope of humboldt hill w full view of bay and could watch visiting tall ships and the Kinetic Sculpture racers head for launch at Fields Landing as they passed our house. you live in such a beautiful area!! i am happy in the new place, but confess i miss my ocean hikes ...
