Happy birthday, Val~I hope you have a wonderful day!
Fairbanks, AK has two pretty neat quilt shops, and the standby is JoAnn's. But I travel quite a bit and my favorite thing to do is to seek out Quilt shops where ever I am! I am new to My Quilt Place, but love the "show and tell" and looking at all the quilts that people are working on! I don't belong to a guild but have a very good friend - and her and I share what we are up to at least once a month! Keeps us inspired!
Thanks for the welcome
Kathleen
You have a very good website, and your quilts are breathtaking!
Wow! Your website is really neat! I love the large variety and up-to-date info! What a great idea! I was especially excited to see the post about the new show on PBS! I wonder if it'll be shown in my area...gotta check! So far we have Sewing with Nancy, American Sews, Fons and Porter and Quilting Arts. M'Liss Rae Hawley had/has a show on a few years ago and I asked our PBS station to air it, but they wouldn't. I really like her!
I started selling my quilts when I began receiving special orders, and then I put a bunch up for sale on my Etsy site because I figured I should probably help pay for my expensive hobby! I sold 33 at the end of the year and now my site is pretty much depleted. So I want to make more quilts to add to it. But I really enjoy making the ones to donate. I have few family members who have requested quilts; everyone in my family has one, but a few want another. Those are on my to-do list...way down on the list!
I don't know any quilters in my area. That's why I was so excited to find this place. We have a senior center that offers knitting classes and I'm thinking about approaching them with the idea of a quilting group of some sort. I think it would be so fun to quilt with others!
Well, I hope you'll enjoy it here as much as I have been...I don't use facebook or any other social networking sites, so this is all new to me. It took me a few weeks just to figure out how it worked!
Anyway, thanks for writing back! I hope to hear from you again.
Hi Val! I'm Bridget and I live in Seaside, Oregon. I found this site a month ago and I'm really enjoying it here! Since I live in such a small town there are no guilds, quilting groups or classes so I had to teach myself how to quilt using books and the internet. I would love to take a class someday! I've been quilting for almost 6 years and at first I just made them for family members. Now I mainly make them to donate or to sell. My favorite places to quilt for are http://www.alzquilts.org/ and http://www.quiltsforkids.org/.
I love the quilts you've posted...you've made quite a variety! I have a variety as well because it just depends on what or who I'm making it for. If it's just for fun then I enjoy working with brights. I want to learn more about embellishing, but I seem to lack creativity in that area!
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and welcome!
