Hi Suzzi, yes it is a foundation paper pieced Glacier Star.If you want to try this technique I would highly recommend a Judy Niemeyer pattern. She has streamlined this technique so there is little waste and your pieces always fit the proper way and they are cut on the straight of grain as well. It's a wonder process that she has created for the quilter who wants to sew but has little time to do so. Her organizational ideas are very, very helpful so you never have to re-acquaint your self with the project before you start to sew. You will be blown away by the results quilters have had with her patterns which can be viewed at It's like a quilt show online! Many people have won ribbons with there first time Quiltworx creations. Me included. I never entered anything ever. But I did and received 2 first place ribbons! Thanks to a great pattern and such positive feed back from the Quilters in this site. Also her instructions look intimidating at first BUT they are just very detailed so you can't get lost. If you try it enjoy the process. Let me know how it turns out.

Suzzi it is southwest florida quilters to get the exact address. Peace River quilters is another really good guild, they have just about 400 members and just had their quilt show this past week end. To bad I did not get on here a day earlier to find you.

Google quilt guilds and you will know if there is one in LeHigh.

Hi Suzzi just here to introduce myself and welcome you to MQP. Your quilts are just beautiful.

Some times we are not sure where to visit on this site but I wanted to let you know that I have a group of gals and I that are doing several different quilts the Blooming Nine and the Jewel Box quilts. We are posting pictures with our choices of fabrics and progress. Carla Walton has done several of the Blooming Nine so she is our administrator. Come on over to view what we are doing at

To do the Jewel Box we have a Batik Strip Swap going on and we are using those strips for the Jewel Box.

i have tried it. half heartedly. bought carol doak book of paper pieced block patterns, at yard sale couple years ago. saved tutorials off net and out of till i think i understand the concept now. have also read quite a bit of discussions on paper. everything from adding machine paper, to telephone directories. i do a lot of drawing...ideas and designs etc .... so have both tracing paper and "newsprint type paper tablets. think i will start with tracing paper. thinner - so less issue w stitch distortion, brittle - so will tear easy. have spent this weekend doing a little more inet reading on the subject and i think that i am ready to try a more serious start at a paper piecing project. like i said earlier, i like doing miniature quilts. i love stars. tho i don't have doaks' paper pieced stars book, i think i can draft from the NUMEROUS images of them on the net in different forums. so...dabbled with but have done nothing more than that with paper piecing to date - but that will be changing - soon as taxes done and current wip is quilted. all w/in next few weeks. also, another member here sent me a medallion pattern recently, that should lend itself to paper piecing too ...lots of ideas... just need to settle on one. :)) my brain has adhd at times lollol

yeah, it is great fun, isn't it? have you started the "galleries trek", yet? :)). one of the things i tried to do when i first joined...kept forgetting where i left off, a member named sonia started it last year, she is smarter than me...she was writting down the page number where she stopped. i finally figured it out that with so many new people joining all tje time, that one can never get thru the galley because it is always being added to. but i still wander in there frequently. many of the older photos posted there were added by members who are no longer active. we have rapidly increased in membership from about 3.5 thousand last summer to over 14,000 now. but it is still a friendly and welcoming place to meet, visit, ooh and ahh over projectscompleted, wip's and swapping stories and fun.

so...glad you found your way in here. if you have any questions about navigating the site...just post a discussion with your question..half the crew here will jump in with answers :)) ..and don't forget to cruise thru all the pages of links to the many many groups here. there are over 5 pages now. some more active than others...all fun and interesting. lot to learn in them also. there will be a new "mystery quilt" starting watch for that. there have been three already, so...not sure if they will start a new "mystery group" group or not. the site will post the info. .... link to groups pages.

i like that your quilting is your "escape from reality". my quilting is my escape from responsibility. & i too use mitered corners at every opportunity..unless it just doesn't "work" w the overall q top design. i like doing miniature. been thinking about going to carol doak site and putting something together - mini - to teach myself paper piecing. i think she has tutes on her site. just so i can say " yeah, i paper piece" :))

welcome to mqp...your quilts are wonderful and beautiful.
