Hello again! Thanks for adding me as a friend! That's so great that you got to get a new car! Mine is falling apart on me, but there's no way I can get another one. My husband goes to school full-time and only works part time and I'm home full-time on disability, so we don't exactly have much money. Which is kind of depressing to me this time of year! It's been this way for four years now; every since my husbands sawmill closed down and I worked full-time. We had it made an I didn't even know it. Now it's extremely hard, but hopefully the school will pay off. I was hesitant about him starting school at the age of 50, but we're in a very small town and there just aren't any jobs. The schooling isn't costing anything because he's on a special program for displaced workers, so he could really pass that up!
I haven't been doing too much sewing lately. I was making things to sell in my etsy shop, and then I messed up on a table topper and lost the mood. So now I'm just taking a bit of a break and reading my quilting books and magazines. I'll be working on Valentine's things to sell soon. I have a book on improvisional piecing, which is totally not me, but I thought if I stepped out of my box a little bit that might help inspire me.
What kinds of quilts do you like to make? I prefer traditional quilts using contemporary or bright fabrics, but I also love the reproduciton 30's prints. I enjoy piecing, but lately I've been wanting to learn how to applique. I've done a few easy things, but that's about it. I don't do the needleturned applique' though...I just use fusible web and raw edges sewn witha blanket stitch.
Well, I hope you're having an good week and enjoying your new car! Take care!
Happy birthday, Sally~I hope you have a wonderful day!
Hi Sally! I've been here for a few weeks now and am really enjoying it. This is my first social networking site. I don't blog or use facebook, so this is all new to me. I'm almost 50 and when I retired 5 years ago I took up quilting. I am hooked! I make quilts for gifts, to sell and to donate. I mainly donate to "Quilts for Kids" and the "Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative".
I just wanted to say hello and welcome!
