Hi Pat! What have you been up to? I've had a blah week and have just been really lazy...must be the weather!
My Long Beach doctor appointment is Friday at 2:00. Are you going to be around Friday morning? I was hoping to check out Jelly Bean fabrics and it would be nice if we could get together. Usually my appointment is earlier in the day, but for some reason they gave me 2...which I don't really care for; it gets me home too late. Anyway, let me know.
By the way, is your quilt at the quilters? How long does it take? Are you going to do the binding or have someone else do it?
Yippee! Doctor day! I go once a month (pain management) and that's when I get to go to Long Beach. It used to be every 3 months, but now it's monthly. Anyway, I've been collecting ginkgo prints and they have several. This time I was smart and wrote down the ones I do have.
So, do you have a large fireworks show in Long Beach? We have a huge one here; we used to go down to the beach, but during the past several years it's really gotten crazy with people shooting things off and not paying attention to others around them. I wish they would ban fireworks from the major display area. Anyway, the past few years we just watched from our living room. We haven't had a sunny 4th in a few years now. Last year I believe it was drizzly anyway. My mom always goes to the big show in Vancouver. One year we watched from a boat out on the river and that was a lot of fun!
I'll bet it's crazy up there for the long weekend! I know it's crazy here and I feel trapped...I can't even get out of my street, and nevermind going to the grocery store! I usually just hole up and plan on staying home. My husband has to work for sure the 2nd and 3rd. He doesn't know about the 4th. It's so weird because for 20 years he had weekends and holidays off. Too bad the mill closed. What I really miss is the money! It paid well and the benefits were excellent. Anyway, times are tough right now.
So, what have you been working on? I finally did some quilting yesterday. I've just not been in the mood lately. I think I'm worrying too much about things and then I can't concentrate. But yesterday I was able to escape and it made me feel much better once I got going.
Anyway, guess I'll go for now. Hope to meet some day!
Just stopping by to say hello! I've been wondering about those borders of yours! I'm removing one right now and I'm so annoyed because my stitch length was too short and I'm having a heck of a time taking it apart!
Hope you're doing well!
Hi Pat! I'm just wondering how you're coming along with your "un-quilting". Do you have to take out all of the borders or just the wide one?
I hope you're having a wonderful weekend! I can't believe it's actually sunny!
I don't have a message in my "in box"...just the one you posted on my comment wall about sending a message.
I only discovered the in box yesterday. I didn't realize we could write to members individually and not have to use their comment wall. Still making my way around here!
No way did I quilt my quilts by hand! I'd probably only have one quilt! I wanted to try once, but I don't really care for hand sewing. The closest thing I've done to quilting my own is using a blanket stitch around an art quilt!
We just took our house off the market after 2.5 years. We were in closing a year ago, but the other party pulled out at the last minute. We've only had 4 people look in all that time! We'll keep it off the market until we can price it higher as it was in the beginning. I'm just tired of trying to keep it looking nice all the time! Plus, my husband just started college (he's 50). He worked at a sawmill in Warrenton for 20 years until it closed. That was a real bummer! Now that he's back in school the mill has reopened, so I was pretty upset about that. I really had hoped he'd go back, but he was already in school when the hiring started. I miss the nice paychecks!
It sounds like you're really busy! Do you go to the coast every weekend no matter what the weather? Do you have any kids? We don't. We couldn't and chose not to go through any fertility procedures. Just as well I suppose. We'd be paying for college and weddings now and wouldn't be able to afford it.
I'm working on a new quilt and just finished making a bunch of HST's (half-square triangles). I have a friend who has been quilting much longer than I, yet she refuses to even try anything with triangles. I'm hoping to keep this quilt for myself. I made one for my husband a few years ago, and one for my dog...now it's my turn. Plus I just finished 3 quilts to donate to "Quilts for Kids", so I want to make something that didn't call for kid fabric!
Hope you're having a good week!
