I'm like you Pamela a disabled Chef and quilting again has helped connect back to reality again. I just had to look up the String Spider web and Bonnie Hunter does a great tutorial at check it out some time. I see Viki and Rogue quilter were talking about string quilts.

Hi Pamela just here to introduce myself and welcome you to MQP.

Some times we are not sure where to visit on this site but I wanted to let you know that I have a group of gals and I that are doing several different quilts the Blooming Nine and the Jewel Box quilts. We are posting pictures with our choices of fabrics and progress. Carla Walton has done several of the Blooming Nine so she is our administrator. Come on over to view what we are doing at

To do the Jewel Box we have a Batik Strip Swap going on and we are using those strips for the Jewel Box.

you're welcome. this really is such a fun place...i have learned a lot here & on other forums i follow. i am self taught...initial class using rotary cutter style with patterns out of a book. was very limiting so i got more books on drafting, block encyclopedias etc and with the help of books and magazines my quilting took off. but not being part of a group (moved frequently following construction jobs. raising son almost as single parent due to long work hours for dh...not anywhere long enough to become involve in a community or quilt groups. and no internet! oh! how did we ever survive?!?! lollol) there are so many little techniques and styles and shortcuts...enjoy the site and your time here.

welcome to mqp pamela. i can relate to the therapeutic affects of quilting. am sorry to hear of your recent dissability. but like you said the pleasure of quilting will most certainly take the edge off of the discomfort or frustrations of dealing with dissability.

have read comments fr some newbies here re: difficulty of getting around in the site. it is pretty straight forward, really, once you start wanderin' around :)) ...the most fun are the groups. the link to the groups is at the top of every page. there are five pages of groups..from groups for some states, ufo's, swaps of everything quilty - blocks & fabric. all fun all excellent way to meet other members. ....links to group page ..enjoy ...and again..welcome
