Tell us about yourself—as much or as little as you like.
I live in Colorado Springs, CO with my husband and our little "doggie daughter" Molly - a very sweet and independent Shih Tzu. We moved here in 2006 because we have seven grandchildren who all live here and we wanted to be close to them and be a part of their lives as they are growing up. We have both been native "California Kids" all of our lives, so this was a major change for us. We love the slower pace of life and I love the fact that I've become a quilter after moving here!!

Fall is in the air!

Been spending a lot of time in the yard getting all of the new plants in the ground before winter.  DH did a LOT of work this summer hardscaping and now we're doing the fun stuff... picking up plants and making everything look pretty.  Not much time for sewing, quilting, or playing online, though. And I didn't spend any time with grandkids this weekend.  There's just never enough time to do everything I want to do. Does anyone else feel like that?

Soooooooooooo very glad that Friday finally arrived. This week felt sooooooooooooo long! The weather has been really hot here... we broke a record yesterday!  It was 94 in Colorado Springs and 99 in Denver!!! I'm really looking forward to cooler weather.  Maybe I'll just hide out in the A/C all weekend and piece in peace.  LOL.

Monday Monday.....

I get to Colorado Springs once in awhile.  Love going to the zoo.  Been going there sence I was a little girl.  Now go with my grandkids.  Have a good friend in Colorado Springs, also.

Happy Quilting!

Just another note here.  I was not aware that one could "pretty up" our individual pages until I clicked on yours.  I looked at it and was wowed... so I went to find out how to get mine changed too... thanks.

I'm so glad to become your friend.  I am sure we have lots we can learn from each other.  I'm the sister with the longarm and I currently have two of my sister's quilts in my "quilts to do closet".  I live in Texas and my sister lives in No. Carolina.

yes kathryn u can either use 6" squares or as large as a square as u want just remember on thing tho if u r doing it by hand the larger the square its gets harder to work with as u sew the small pieces together on a larger square. i used 6 " squares and sewed them together it turned out quite nice. after u sew them together in a large 9 patch then to add the backside, make 9 more 6" squares sewing them together then sew right sides together make sure the right side of each 9 patch is on the inside, sew all the way rnd the9 patch u have made leaving a 4" opening and turn the 2 materials right side out  and slip stitch the opening closed  and u have a front and back complete then to add more patches do the same and whip stitch the squares together . i also wanted o tell u u have my mothers first name even spelled the same way only her middle name is lydia . glad to help u and b ur friend . im new to this too and the only way i aw too was sending emails to people.btw my daughters name is susan kinda ironic huh . see ya u r friend gypsybarron btw my first name is jamie . once we get to know each other mayb we can swap addresses and send each other pieces of scraps that i have a lot of 3 huge boxes of them.

kathryn i have done lots of crazy quilt. 2 simple ways of doing them is using a foundation square or just sewing pieces of material together that fit or sometimes they dont fit u just sew all the pieces together and it gets bigger , or like i said use a foundation square and u can make it as big as u want it and sew the scraps on it then sew the outer edge around the square then cut off the excess material to fit the square. hope this helps
