I'm a beginner at quilting. I like to piece and hand quilt, and I would also like to learn applique. I just wish I had more time for this hobby. I would love to find, and possibly, meet others with similiar interest in my area.
i work full time too. makes it hard to get all the projects done. infact what am i saying... i dont get them done. i get some done. but they will all eventually get done:) there's not a thing wrong with small projects. i'm happy to see so many people still quilting and others taking it up. this is certainly the place for inspiration and i am so happy to have found it. i'm sure you are too. happy days!!! :) cj
Glad that you found some time to quilt. It can be hard at times when you want to get quilting and just can not find the time. Now that I am retired I thought I would have lots of extra time for my quilting. Well I do find more time to quilt but still to many other things still get in the way at times. I hope that everything else is going good for you. Have you gotten any help?
Thank you for your kind words. Lke I said I have been there and done that, so I can answer a lot of you questions. If there is a Hospice Center near you there are all kinds of books and pamphlets that are very helpful in understanding what is to come. I am so glad that someone told me about them and I found them very useful as time want on. Hospice also is not just for cancer patents as a lot of people think it is. They help everyone and they are a good resource for finding help that you might need later. They helped me with my Aunt for two years before she passed away. They helped me keep her at home were she wanted to be.
Thank you for the compliment on my quilts! I've slowed down quite a bit this past year. I think I'm in a slump or something! I don't have that excitement I used to have and I sure hope it comes back because I have a lot of money invested in this hobby!
I took care of my Mother and Aunt for over thirteen years the last ten full time. My Mother passed away at 92 years and my Aunt at 90. The last five years my daughter and son helped me a lot. I know how hard it is to care for a parent, so if you have any thing you need someone to talk to, I am here for you.
Take ever chance you get to give her love, kisses and hugs. You will be glad you did after she is gone. I have wonderful memories and the only ones I kept were the good ones.
Hi Karen! I'm Bridget and I live in Seaside, Oregon. I'm sure there are many quilters in your area....you just need to go to the top of your page and click on "Quilters". There are over 3000 members here, so it would take a long time to go through looking for someone in Indiana, but I'm sure you'd find some.
I joined this site at the end of April and I'm really enjoying myself now that I've found my way around. I'm in a small town without any guilds, quilting groups or classes, and it was lonely having no one to talk to about quilting. When I came here I joined several of the groups and now I've met a lot of quilters. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. That's the best way to get to know people. You might think about joining newbies, piecing, applique and hand quilting. There are groups for every interest.
Anyway, welcome and I hope you'll enjoy it here as much as I do!
