Hi all,I just started making a full size quilt for my bed, and the free pattern I found online had a miscalculation in the dimensions of the blocks. I should have double checked it!! I now have to…Continue

and ready to release some artistic frustration! I gave my notice at work last week, so I will soon be "funemployed" for a while as I hunt for a job that better fits my career goals. I'm hoping to get back into quilting during this time! A cousin and a few close friends are pregnant, so I have a few baby quilts to whip up, and my sister is getting married next summer, so I want to get to work on a wedding quilt. I cracked open a box of fabric last night and started pressing. I'm going to…

Last summer I got quilting fever and was on a roll, knocking out a bunch of quilts through the spring. I've kind of gotten over it now. This always happens to me with crafts. I turn into a maniac for a while and can't put the needles, the hook, or the sewing machine down, but then eventually I get worn out and leave unfinished projects in my wake. I have a few UFOs that I would really love to get done, but I have absolutely no desire to sit at my machine right now. I really need to…

I just got back from a trip home to Boston. While there I gave my best friend Addie a quilt for her 24th birthday. She was ecstatic! She kept going on about how it was the best present ever, and how no quilt could ever say "Addie" as much as the quilt I made her did. I chose her favorite colors and lots of fabric with polka dots, which she loves. Her boyfriend's mom is a quilter, and she has apparently been dropping hints that she wanted one of her own. I had no idea! I beat her to…

I went home to Boston last week and saw some of the baby quilts I have made for friends and family for the first time since I gifted them. They looked so different from when I gave them to them, but I loved it! It felt so good to see the colors a little faded from constant washing, use and love and the fabric all broken in and soft. Made me want to make more baby quilts! My sister has commissioned a few baby quilts for me to make for her friends with kids, and we took a trip to Joanne's…

Glad you liked the fabrics. I was trying to find all the bugs I had. The one with the butterflies and the ladybugs, I have had for a while. I used that in my very first quilt, the one I made for my daughter. :)

Julie, go to the group section of this site, you will see Quilting Bee. There was one in October and one in November. See if you can comment on November - Suzanne Montgomery is hosting it. In the thread it says somewhere that there will be on in January. Ask Suzanne if you can join that one. The other group that has been fun was the Mystery Quilt, but that one is finished. Depending on your interest there is also a UFO one that starts in January. There is also a group that does swapping of fabric. Hope to see you in the group. Enjoy San Francisco. I loved Boston when I visited years ago. Our climate will be a bit gentler for you in the Bay Area.
Welcome to MyQuiltPlace. I see you have relocated to San Francisco. I spent most of my life in San Jose, not too far from you, but now live east of Sacramento in the Sierra foothills. I have learned lots here. There is a Quilting Bee here that has been fun. You might want to join us in January. Check out the November Bee. We are having lots of fun.
