Quilting is definitely therapy for me!  Mentally.  I'm an anxious/worrier and quilting is the only thing that calms me.  I wish I'd have discovered it sooner.  I was never interested in sewing whatsoever and it was just a fluke that I started quilting.  I was totally hooked after the first one.  We too are in a crisis time....we've been in it for a few years now and I pray things will calm down soon.  I was in a slump with the quilting for about 6 months and only recently got back into it again and I'm glad because I had myself continually stressed out with no relief.  My blood pressure wouldn't get under control even though I'm on three bp meds.  But now that I've started quilting again my blood pressure is back to normal.

I've been making a few easy things to put in my Etsy shop.  I don't have much there, so I thought I'd make table runners and table toppers for the holidays.  I'm making them easy because I figured no on would want to spend a lot of money on a decoration that's only out for a month or so.  I have one basted and ready to be quilted.  I also make quilts for the AAQI and have signed up for the "Quilt a Month" club, so I'm working on my December donation.  Also, a cousin is having a baby shower Thanksgiving weekend and I'm making a baby quilt for her.  And last, I'm getting ready to start a 30's Dresden Plate quilt just for me.  I want to make a few Valentine's decorations to put in my Etsy shop as well.  Gotta plan ahead with holidays!  I'm sure glad I'm out of my quilting dry spell!

I still have a grandmother...she's 91.  I sure hope my mom sticks around for years to come.  Sometimes it's weird to me that my mom and I are only 17 years apart.  And I have an aunt that's only 3 years older than I am.

How many kids do you have?  We couldn't have any.  We'd planned on four, but it just wasn't in the cards for us.

Today is one of those "I feel old" days.  I have chronic back pain and I think that's why sometimes I feel like I'm older than I am.  Oh long as I can quilt!

I really like your attitude about our age; the alternative being death!  I definitely need to change my attitude because I'm making myself old before my time.  My mom always did that too..from the time she was 40 she was always talking about how old she was.  Funny thing is, she's 67 now and is happier that I've ever seen her.  It's like she's reliving her younger years!  Do you have a young mom?  I lost my dad a few years ago due to complications from diabetes, but my mom is in great shape.  Anyway, I really liked what you said and it got me thinking about changing my outlook. Thanks!

Hi Deanne!  Thanks for writing back!  I go through the birthday list daily to wish a happy birthday to whoever is listed, and I'd say 9 times out of 10 no one I didn't think a thing of it that you didn't write back.  So it's nice to hear from you!  I celebrated my 50th in July.  I cannot believe I'm that old!  I want to be 30 again!

I love the quilt you have posted on your site!  The points are so perfect!!!  I'd love to see more of your quilts!  I've only been quilting for 6 years and there is so much I want to learn!  I make a lot of quilts to donate, and for those I generally use easy patterns, but I think it's time for me to start challenging myself like I did when I first started.

Anyway, thanks again for writing back!

Idid and Thanks!  It was my 1st attempt at a One Block Wonder.  Once I got all the octagons made it was time to connect everything.  Well, I don't like to do "what I'm told"  so I cut them into circles, pieced the background and just machine appliqued them down.

I guess I need to post the photo of my 2nd attempt.  This one is a hexagon out of very UGLY home dec fabric but it turned out really cool!  I'll post it asap!
