Happy Birthday, Barbara. Hope your day is delightful...
I'm glad you have a wonderful day! My birthday is July 28 and I'll be 50 this year. I would LOVE to go to the Sister's Quilt Show; I've wanted to go since I started quilting. I doubt I'll be able to afford it though. My husband is in school full-time and only works part-time, so trips are out for the time being. But it's fun to dream!
Well, I did it. I started a group for newbies. I'm sure it'll take time before people start talking. I noticed many of the groups are kind of quiet. I found out this site only started on March 1, so I'm sure it'll take time for people to get involved (if they choose to). I've joined groups in the past and never participated, so this time I'm determined to. I'm trying to welcome a few new members a day because some people don't feel comfortable just jumping in somewhere.
OH, I read your blog post about the swap. The information can be found in the forum under "Having Fun". Diana is the one hosting it and she just posted all of the details. She titled the discussion, "Alrighty...here we go". If you can't find it let me know and I'll try to link to it (I'm not all that computer savvy, but I'm getting there!). I've only done a swap one other time, but it seems like Diana has done a lot of them. We just send however many fat quarters we want to and get the same number back in return. It's a fun way to collect different fabrics. I hope you can do it!
Anyway, thank you for writing back!
Hi Barbra! I joined recently as well. I live in Oregon where it really does rain all the time...perfect quilting weather! I've been quilting for 5 years and am still learning new things. Although there are several groups here, I noticed there isn't one for new quilters so I may start one. I wrote to AQS and asked if a Newbies group would be good and they said that anyone can start a group. I've run across several people who are working on their very first quilt, so I think a new quilters group would be good.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and welcome!
