I just want to mention that I won the First Place ribbon at the AQS show in Albuquerque last month with this quilt! I was soooo excited! My experiment worked!

Thanks all! Mary, I have a book coming out in Nov. about using strips to piece landscapes. (It is called Lovely Landscape Quilts and is available on amazon).  *Shameless plug*

I blogged the process as I made this quilt - including the 'confetti' tree. The confetti refers to using thousands of tiny tiny snippets and create stuff. In this case rogue, I layered tulle on Aqua Melt stabilzer, sprinkled snippets on it, layered more tulle on top and then another layer of Aqua Melt. Then I stitched through all the layers using tiny loop da loos, soaked the whole mess in hot water to dissolve the stabilizer and cut up foliage shapes out of the tulle/confetti. This is simply wonderful.  I have only been quilting since November of 2013, and I know that I have to learn how to  do the machine quilting.  I must learn this landscape piecing technique also, because I really want to get into this style of art quilts.  Thanks for the inspiration.

beautiful!! always exciting to see your latest art quilts! your fiery skies are an inspiration. what is a confetti tree? i am assuming name refers to a technique.
