The pattern for this Storm at Sea quilt first appeared in Quilter's World in August of 2006 as "Impulse," and I had always wanted to make it, but first I had to learn to paper piece. Happily, I took a class last year with Wendy Mathson, and finished it a few months ago. It is shown on the bed of my nephew for whom I made it. It is quilted in every single ditch. I didn't want to do a lot of ornamental quilting to distract from the already complex pattern.
