Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
The next quilt up for the team of Allmendinger girls (my daughter Becky Allmendinger Newcomer, Jamie Allmendinger Osborn, and I) is a cross stitch Thanksgiving quilt, the last of the autumn quilts. Here is the background story: In 2003, after the daughters and I FINALLY finished the cross stitch Christmas quilt, they decided we need to do a fall/autumn quilt. After laughing hysterically for all 10 hours of the drive home from Illinois to Pennsylvania (it had taken me 18 years to finish the Christmas quilt), I called them and said, "ok I'll go along with this if you guys will help with the cross stitch work." Now all three of us cross stitch but Becky is the champion by far. Her work is gorgeous, front and back, and she is so quick!
So we all started cross stitching and in a few years time we had tons of autumn themed squares done. So many, that we made a Halloween quilt, a school/ apple quilt and now the Thanksgiving quilt. You will find pictures of the other finished cross stitch autumn quilts in other albums here posted. This past week, (March 9-14, 2012), Becky and I spent time at her home in Plano, Texas, putting the top together. More pictures to follow!
Later update 10/24/2014:
Finished putting the last buttons on the quilt tonight. Very pleased with how it turned out and completed just in time for November decorating and the Thanksgiving holiday.
