Our Dad contracted West Nile Virus back in early 2000. He lost the use of his legs. He eventually worked his strength back enough to get leg braces and with the use of canes, could walk again. He had asked for a lap covering to fit in his wheelchair or in the car for traveling to doctors appointments. It's made from old jeans, batting and a chunk of leftover flannel.
Being a cowboy all his life, he didn't die by ranch accident but by a mosquito. He had macular degeneration which speeded up its disease, so he was going blind in a hurry. It affected his mental health so much that he didn't want to live anymore. He passed away 6 years ago.
