UFOs

If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

Bonnie Hunter is the queen of scraps.  I love scraps as well.  I have one hanging up right now that is all red, green and light neutrals.  It makes a great Christmas quilt and reminds me of all the projects the scraps were from.  I hand pieced the blacks years ago while watching tv.  They laid around for  many years until the light bulb went off in my head and they became a quilt.  I put it together by hand and quilted it by hand.  It was a very satisfying thing to do.  I have found that every block can be a scrap block.

Zoe, I am inundated with patterns every day from FaveQuilts.com.  I get too much inspiration.  Then, there is Pat Sloan and Bonnie Hunter - I really don't have to buy a book unless it is a technique book.  Even for free motion quilting there is Lori Kennedy and Leah Day.

My favorite quilting book is: Around the Block Again by Judy Hopkins. Some day I'll get the first book. Each block is in 6 sizes and this book has 200 easy to sew blocks. So if you have block block this will give you lots of ideas to choose from. lol!!

For quilting I like several books by several different authers to cover all types of free motion or long arm quilting.

I want to do scrap quilts this year, do any of you have books, patterns that you have enjoyed using? I would love some ideas. I do have three projects that are in the works first though.

Thanks, Riana!  The compliment means a lot to me coming from you.  You've helped me find quilting patterns many times.

Barbara -  no worries!  I don't mind being mistaken for Wilma, lol

Riana - that's a cute jacket.  Are you still making a cape for the opinionated grandd??

Minky - I hate working with that stuff, but it FEELS so nice, sigh.

Wilma - you'll get it all done, I know you will.

Great gifts and work, Kris.  They will love them.

When I mailed off my Secret Santa package, I send off the quilts for grandsons and their fiancés in GA.  Also included microwave bowls, trivets, mug rugs, tea towels and cell phone holders.  They both bought houses this year so am sure they don’t have a lot of stuff yet.

Tomorrow I need to finish up 4 more microwave bowls for a friend and get them in the mail...hoping tonight I finish up a small blanket for great nephew...needs to go to Chicago.  Will NEVER make a blanket with minky again, OMG stuff gets everywhere and slips and slides.

I'm so impressed! Kris.  All your Christmas gifts are so nice - so thoughtful, and you did a lot of quilting on them!
