If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

I can relate to that, I owned a quilt shop in southern Utah until I moved to MO. I miss having the great big selection of the shop at my fingertips.

I piece a lot of backs too though, sometimes it just seems the right thing to do, but when I have a bunch of quilts that just need finished..I'm taking that shortest direction to finished that I can.

Comment by Deanna Davis on April 6, 2013 at 12:10am is one that carries the larger one.. after having worked in a quilt shop and having it available, NOT finding it is the hardest  hahahaha  One more reason to make the back my way ..

that's true Deanna, it's harder to find the much wider ones.. I did see them on a site recently, if I can find it again I'll let you know.. although I don't think their prices were nearly as reasonable.

Take that back, I had to not just join, I had to register too -- now I found it !  My problem is that when I make the 'big quilts', I need 110" or 120" sometimes and there aren't too many places that carry it ...

Viki, I just joined the site so I could look for those backs and I can't find them... drat !

Beth, I can never get as much done as you, but I'm trying to finish all those things that I've put aside. I'm psyched for it. I'm going to make the binding for this quilt and I'll drop you a message :D   Beth, I get a doz every other day hahahaha  I sell the eggs to certain persons on my weekly trip to town .. pays for the pelleted feed and the flock is entertainment to say the least. I could bring you some when I take that trip to your house :->

I like to make backs out of the extra fabrics .. but if I had a bolt of a backing that went with everything that would be cool too. I'm not too sure what I'm going to do for the back of this one. I've got a large brown floral that I can surround with different fabrics to make up my needed dimension. Sometimes it can take as much time as the front without making the blocks  LOL

Going to audition the fabrics on the wall and see what I come up with  .. this weekend I am going to get ON my horse with my new saddle and ride around the puddles ... didn't get the Vitamin D I wanted on the deck, but on the way back from town I stopped at the place I put in an application for a job .. xing fingers actually ... like I need something ELSE to do  ...

oh.. if you go to that site to look, you have to 'join' in order to see the prices..just an fyi if you don't like joining various sites, I know some people don't

Beth you can get away with whatever you'd like, lol. We won't tell. I do take vitamin D religiously, it was the only thing 'short' in the myriad blood tests I had done a few years ago, it and vitamin C every single day, I don't really take any others as they've been scientifically proven not to do a heck of a lot for you.

Anyway, as to the fabric backing for all those quilts you have waiting... .. they sell 108" backing fabric by the bolt, for $5.75 a yard.. you have to buy the whole bolt, but if you have several quilts that can get away with using the same beige or blue or something, it's soooooo much easier to use to get those UFO's completed.

You must admit, I have been good and I have slowed down quite a bit since last year.  After this back procedure next week, I may get to keep up with Deanna again.  I am going to have to, getting in new customers.  Then, I need to get sewing on some more UFOs so I can clear them out to start a couple of new ones.

I did dig out a table runner that I started, oh oh telling on self and I just found it when going thru the magazines, six years ago.  I can tell why I did not finish it, cut the pieces wrong so did not get the design I wanted and gave up.  But, was at fabric store getting some stabilizer for tomorrows class and found the perfect fabric.  yes, I searched thru my stash but nothing was working.  Now I can get the last of it sewn and quilted.  Will be a nice little break inbetween all the other projects.  I have not posted any quilts lately because I have 8 of my own waiting to be quilted.  I need to find some fabric cheap so i can get them done.  Maybe just sew random pieces together to make the back.  that should do it and then can bust some of that stash I have I do not like.  Hey, can I get away with that?
