UFOs

If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

Barbara, l've never sold on ebay etc. Maybe do a google search for " collectables for sale", and you'll likely find a group online that sells/ trades/ buys a variety of collectable goods. Simply " cabbage patch doll collectors" might narrow the field further. If you have an " antiques" store near you, ask the proprietor...chances are they know of someone looking.

I was just amazed, Zoe, about what you went through cleaning up after the hurricane.  I've never experienced anything like what you had to do.  I'm so glad that you and your Mother are safe.  You have such nice, supportive neighbours.

Zoe, it seems like as often occurs, a disaster brings folks together. Your kindness to others comes back as kindness to you...simply ' good karma' all around. So happy to hear you're safe, and may have a new buddy to boot!

Goodness, Zoe - what a busy, hard working day.  No wonder you are exhausted.  So glad you and your neighbors are all safe!  Looking forward to hearing more about your new neighbor.  You will have such a good time learning all about each other.

I am back ~ Yeah !
I need to put all the phone numbers into my cell phone.
This is what to sent to my cousin, so just easier to copy and past this one.
Power came back on around 8 pm !!! Yeah !!!!
I am taking  HOT bath now !
I was out in the yard all day, helped a neighbor who had way more work to do than we did ( I did) , I needed help getting a large tree limb cut up, it had fallen by the street in the creek, if FEMA had seen it, they might have made me leave it there due to the wetlands being protected. Will the chainsaw the guy had was a rental and it was dying out, so he took it back and he and his wife went to go help his elderly dad who might be older than my mom. Before he left, he help me get the garage door open so that I could get the lawn mowers out. After I was home a 15 yr old neighbor came to help with that branch- it was huge , he used a ax on it and really worked hard on it. Later he gave up on the larger part and them while he was working I took my mower in the front and mowed up all the leaves, we had no damage !!!!!  When I went to the back yard I had to rake a lot of the junk up and bag it, then I took the mower and went over what stuff was in the yard. I had to empty the bag often. I got it nice looking, still some more to be done- after my body recoups!  Oh, When I was back there I heard voices and went out front and I was surprised to see two of my neighbors cutting the tree with their chainsaw !! So glad !!  I told him if he knows of others that need help to pull me in, I would be happy to help.  There is one huge tree that fell across the street, if the men want to work on it, I will help. That family is new, they have not been able to move in yet  for months as after they bought the home they discovered mold, so they were fixing to move in next week and then this happened.  I will try to go help them, as when I need help one day again, others will come help me too.
There were about 5 trees that had come done in the creeks  that are by homes, not one caused any damage. I did see some fences down and one home a tree fell on a fence, the woman lives in NY, will be moving here in about 8 months.. I called her up, turns out we have a lot in common, so that will be fun to have her here, she grew up in England, but she like me was a cook in the Navy, I do not run into many of people who understood that job, so that is neat.  There was a huge pine tree that fell at one neighbors home. Some of the men went around and cut the trees away from the road right after the storm had passed. I did not want to go far as the wind was still high at times and I was a bit concerned about and lose branches falling from the high trees .
It was nice to have a hot meal. I had cooked up some food prior to the storm for " Just in case"
and I had put a jug of water in each freezer and blue ice in my smaller freezer. As you know the storm was not supposed to come here, but it did. I do not think we lost any food. Yesterday I had moved the blue ice into the refrigs, so that kept the food safe.
I need to go on to bed, oh.. not sure I will be able to walk tomorrow !!

Thanks Riana. I was thinking in the same direction but don't know what people are looking for. Is Ebay the only way to go to hunt for collectors?

Comment by Riana Noyes yesterday

Leave it, Barbara, because collectors know the elastic goes...it'll be considered " original, unoppened condition." If someone buys it, and THEN wants you to fix it, you can then agree to do so.

I have a 1983 cabbage patch doll that has been in the attic for 16 years. Somebody elses attic before that. It has never been played with. It is still in it's box although the paper window of the box is coming down. It is in perfect shape except the elastic in the waist of the panties is shot. If I want to sell to a collector, do I repair the elastic or send as is. I have other stuffed toys that are not played with but after a while the elastic goes. It still has the orphage papers inside unopened.

Just saw that My Girlfriends Quilt Shoppe will be offering a free mystery class for a table runner.  It will be on November 12th from 5-7pm Mountain Time.  Class will be via Zoom.  Just need to sign up and the information for the sew-along will be sent.  I think I will join, maybe something I can gift.

P.S.  I was going to tell my son that Doug needed a Go Baby for his 90th birthday but he had already bought him 2 cordoroy pants and a big package of socks.  But he will be phoning me for hints as to what Doug would like for Christmas soon.
