If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

My definition of a UFO is a top that is waitng to be finished either because I do not have the money to send it to the longarmer or that I procrastinate quilting in the ditch.  I am still trying to master machine quilting.  Me and the machine do not get along so far.  I also have a quilt that I have purchased and washed and ironed and starched the fabric for (now to cut it) but it is so many little pieces that I just haven't been able to make my self start.  It is stashed in a bag. But I just won't start another quilt until I have the 4 I have already started finished.

I love the wonky 9 patch -- easy, quick and no matter what it all goes together  LOL  I just wish somehow I could have scraps when I'm done with something. I can never do a 'scrap' quilt cuz I don't have any leftovers .. or if I do, it's large pieces .. a friend of mine has a whole drawer of 2" squares or strips to cut into 2" squares. I'm going to have to TRY and designate a place I can do that so I can have some scraps !

Can I have some pickles Beth ? I haven't canned a THING this year  LOL

Beth I was going to take a picture of the baby quilt I'm working on, and say you could do that kind of pattern, but my DD called and had to go do her stuff today instead. but maybe tomorrow i will have time. It's a wonky 9 patch and so easy and quick!

Thanks Deanna, I appreciate the input and now that I read the last sentence, see how funny I am.  Yep, the OCD has taken over for sure.

Had to do sweet pickles last night.  Picked a bunch more of the cuks.  Then, ugh!, I have a fungus growing on my squash, pumpkins, cukes, and canteloupe.  So outside to spray heavily and cut off leaves and prune up.  I am hoping caught it soon enough.  It was not there Sunday or Monday.  I am so disappointed.  We will see.  Cooler day today so maybe will get in garage again to quilt.  I did work a couple rounds on the log cabins.  Nearly done with those blocks again, yep, #3 fromy my lovely cut and start.  There are still another 23 left so will make one more to go with those and probably get the embroiderymachine out and stitch something on them and get it finished.  I hope at least.

Rebecca - that is exciting ! I'd like to do that .. I did do it for patterns that the quilt shop owner designed for challenges for our customers.

Beth - of course it is acceptable ..  you are the designer ! You could combine the smaller square to make the same size as the larger ones .. or cut them up into chain blocks .. add a white background .. and of course a baby quilt would count in your monthly goal. I don't want to commit to a number, I just want something finished !  LOL

Hopefully I will be able to get at least one UFO finished some day.  I have been honored to test a pattern for a new quilt, so at least I will be sewing everyday even if not on a UFO. Perhaps that will get motivated enough to sew everyday on UFO's when I finish the quilt top.

@Rebecca -- hahahaha  I do try to sleep, altho' not always successfully. As I have a small farm with animals, the animals keep me on task (feed me!). Since my move to AR from VA (and my working in a quilt store where I collected my PIZBLs, WIPs, fabric in stacks), I made a resolution to FINISH things (for ME, for the promised ones to family), so that ONE day I can PURCHASE fabric again. Then when I joined this site, I found THIS group. And Beth came with it .. I don't have a number to meet per month, I just have a goal .. and I am seeing progress. That in itself is a reward. I have my Civil War Tribute quilt in progress, my log cabin has gone from want to reality with center done and working on pieced borders, and baby quilt started and finished. I'm still working on turtles, butterflies and flower baby quilt -- turtles have the most pieces ! So I will have another finish coming !

Beth and Deanna, you both depress me. Just kidding. Do either of you ever sleep? or eat? My DH just want stand for me doing anything after 5 in the evening and as I have such wonderful customers who trust me to quilt their tops, not much time for me to sew. I guess I have a little bit of sewing envy going on.

So people, I have a bag of 4" squares, a bag of 5" squares, a bag of 10" squares and a couple other sizes.  Would it be acceptable, since they are in the ufo stash, to make just baby quilts out of these?  No, they are not baby prints, mostly florals, or should I cut up more squares to go with them and add.  Oh, maybe the d9p scrappy style or add in a black to them and let that be the offset color or a blue or red or green, something dominent?  any ideas?  I need to do some serious sewing and easy quilting to get to my 10.  I am not moving along here and it is starting to depress and annoy me.  What can I get away with to hit my 10?
