UFOs

If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

I am terrible at drawings, I have tried that.  Now if it is quilting the lines on the drawing, can do, but to draw out a quilt, can't seem to get it done.  i do not have EQ.  The 16 squares I have done, are Elenor Burns Simple Star.  The hardest part is that I ran out of the fabric I was using, otherwise would just make more stars.  here is a thought, on what I do draw, if I put a:

12" star block

6" strip of fabric with an applique like inside the quilt on inner border

12" star block

6" strip appliqued

12" star block

6" strip appliqued

12" star block

The hard part will be in getting the right color fabric for the strip pieces.

This distraction is for a price, so it makes it a bit easier :D

@Beth -- have you done a drawing, or do you use EQ ? That can sometimes help you over that 'hump'. Let me know if I can help.

It gets tough Deanna when you see an adorable quilt to make.  At least you are quilting and having fun.

I am at a block on Shekenah's quilt.  I have to add a 1" zinger onto the outer round to make it an even 72".5" so I can put 12" blocks on the outer edge.  I am not going to put any more borders on it after that so the blocks I make will be it.  the quilt will finish at 96" square.  An oh the quilting on this one.  Will have to check with her if I can quilt it to death or not.  If I do, it is going into a show for sure.  Back to discussion, I have only enough fabric left from the center to come to the outer edge to be able to do four corners and 16 other blocks.  I need to fill in the rest.  I have 16 right now.  This will cover four to each side, I need two more of different fabric or do you think a spacer would work.  I know which ones go in corners, will be same as center start block and have two of those done.   Any suggestions on how to fill in the gap?  I don't have a photo on hand to show you.  Just do stumped.  Been trying to get this one off my list all year.  Good thing is that if I finished it earlier, she would not get it so large to fit on her new bed.

Finished up all my boom swap blocks (15) of them.  I am progressing.  Have the about five in the works at the same time so I quit getting tired of working on them.  THought, if I do this, may not be as productive, but won't get bored and so desperately want to throw them away so they get done.

Wonderful quilt Deanna.  I agree with Linda and Rebecca, should bring in lots of money for the library.  What a wonderful dedication.

Deanna, a wonderful quilt! If that doesn't make money, I don't know what will. I'm a Civil War history buff and if I had the money right now I would buy it before you had a chance to raffle, auction, or whatever. Is my unidentified block on there? I do see a lot of blocks that I do recognize. Wonderful. Good luck with your fundraiser.

Remember the Civil War Love Letters quilt I mentioned that distracted me before my trip to VA ? Well the group of ladies finished it while I was gone and it was quilted too ! Someone made a label and it is getting it's binding now. It will be given to our local library as a fundraiser. I  made 13 blocks, another made over 50 .. and others made 2, 3, or 4 .. back to my baby quilt !

Great job Riana.  That was an undertaking for you.

I did finish a simple little thing, a rice bag that was cut, sewed, and the rice with it.  I just had to pour the rice in the bag and sew it up.  I did put some of my lavender in with the rice in the bag.  Smells good when heated up and relaxing.  Lavender is a good herb to help with aches and pains.  So, yeah, a finish #1 for June, only 9 more to go.  I did manage to get a top assembled last night at quilt group and now just to put borders on so can get quilted this weekend.  Applique quilt is on longarm again so hopefully I can get that finished on quilting so I can move forward with others.  Oh the joy of knowing you are so close to the halfway mark of your yearly goal.  Yeah!!!!!  The system works if applied.
