UFOs

If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

Elizabeth, 3 of my wall quilts shown are red star, patchwork summer & father Christmas. I make my own, using 1 x 2's & do my own carpentry. Since you don't have room for that, they DO sell knockdowns at art shops.I love the way the piece hangs, like art.You can still admire the stitching from the back. The" life in autumn woods" is traditional sleeve mount on dec. rod (close to wall) and a second sleeve at bottom for hidden I-beam wt. bar. I've never cared for the look of quilts that hang loose with space between wall & quilt, especially when approached from the side. I can do a photo tutorial in the near future, maybe in the "newbie" group.

so I just ordered quilt backing (for 2 quilts that have been sitting ) , it's for my b'day, and my father (92, who lives with us) told me to get something for myself. Ok!

Welcome Colleen .. and don't worry, there are no records to set, break, or have. Why we start another ?  There are countless reasons, don't wanna start that 'one', inspiration, have the fabric .. and a ton of other reasons!

Hopefully we will inspire you to pick one up and "FINISH" it :D

I haven't sewn all weekend .. still dealing with this poison scratch, altho' it is a TON better. Steroids in a pak will do it every time! We lost power this morning about 4:30am, just got it back .. now to do bulletin for church and hop in a cold shower !

Good Morning!

Riana, I love  your redwork kitty quilt.  I don't know whether a wall quilt or a lap quilt would sell better.  If it were my quilt I would stop now and finish it.  I do not know how to mount a wall quilt with stretcher bars.  Is it described somewhere?

just came in to sit, read see what new pretties to see. and this is here. this is just so cute. i do mostly wall quilts anymore. but the few quilts i have donated for raffles etc, the lap quilt seems to be the most popular. i, personally, think that this would be such cheerful & happey little quilt to snuggle up with to read and drink tea. especially on a chill dreary day meant for a hot cup of tea & good read.

Here is the redwork kitty quilt I started while in Texas this winter. The red fabric batik shown in bottom left corner next to it is the only red I have found to match. There's not a lot of it. Should I do a border do you think? (3-4") or just use it for binding. The quilt will be hand quilted & donated for humane soc. So if it's going to be a wall quilt, it's at the limit (42") but if it's a lap quilt, it'll be ok bigger.I usually mount my wall hangings on " strecher bars" after quilting. Which do you think would sell better? A 40ish" wall quilt, or lap quilt?

Then I have some of both of those for sure.

Yesterday when I finished it I thought I had posted on this thread.  When I looked today, it was not there.  It is now.

Does a chair that you started to reuhpolster four to five years ago count as a ufo?  If so, I am almost done with one.  I just have the cushion to make with button covers, dust cover to put on which I need DH for, and then to put on the pretty tacks which DH is good at as well.  It is not half bad for an amateur.  Give me the quilts.
