If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

Riana, the pin should be pushed up from underneath the quilt, and then the template placed on top of it.  I had no problems with mine.  Have her watch the video.  It shows how the pin is put in.  Sorry she had so much trouble with it.

Kris she was having issues because of the pin/ tack which holds it in place. It kept  getting caught and tipping up and she was afraid she'd scratch her lovely new machine.l suggested she try a super slider, but she had yet to get one during our classes . I'll message her about the video, thanks. She finally accomplished a passable baptist fan using a series of circle rulers that don't "spin ". But l think she was dissapointed that the slotted ones were hard for her to handle.

Riana - your student who was having trouble with the Circles on Quilts templates - did she watch the video on YouTube?  It's called Westalee Baptist Fan.  I didn't have any trouble with them, but I've done a lot of ruler work.  If you could describe her problem, I might have an idea for her.

Ginny, I'm not surprised a finger was used for measuring.  So convenient having one always right there!

Yes, Gail, I too love traditional patterns - both for quilts and for quilting.

Love the Baptist Fans on the placemats Kris.  That's always a great traditional pattern for quilting.  I love all the traditional stuff.

Ah , Zoe, was Kris' placemats. Yes, she's very talented.

Great quilting on your place mats, Kris! In the days of common hand quilting the measurement between lines of stitching was done by a finger width. Just a little trivia that I always think of when I see this quilting pattern.
