If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

Thank you Zoe and Gail.  The visiting blood technician got here near 1:00 P.M.  Doug had been fasting all morning but now he had some hot cereal, a coffee and a cookie.  He doesn't have much of an appetite.  I'm going to buy him some Ensure.  I straightened out the pharmacy and finished the rest of the floors.  (No dust bunnies in our condo!)  I put in a small load of laundry too.  We are having another wonderful dinner made by our son.

Zoe, a litle gift is fine for someone that does you a favor.  My hubby takes care of taking a neighbors trash to the dumpster for her, he never expected anything for doing the favor for her.  She gave him a gift card for Christmas and has given him other little gifts, cookies and such.  It is nice to know that she appreciates the things he does for her.

I'm so sorry that Dougs not doing well, I know your taking good care of him but don't forget to take care of yourself.  You won't be able to help him if you're not well yourself. Sending my Prayers your way.

Riana,  The contractor did not show up, but he is two doors down, so I can still get him over. This is giving me time to look at things better. It has been cold up in that room, but I will look more at this later today. I looked at Lowes and they have ready made cabinets, but only the front part is wood, the rest if compressed junk. So my thinking is to buy these and then remove the fronts, then I can make them any size I want. I also will be able to use real wood. They have some that are 23" deep, some that are 12" deep. I hit my head at 24" deep on the sloped ceiling. I just want to make sure if something is this deep in there that it does not make the room look too full. I am still not sure that I will make it into my main sewing area, time will tell on that one.

Elizabeth, I feel for you and you are doing great! Do, make sure to take care of yourself too. Go out for a walk, eat right and if you need more rest, ask your son ( he sounds wonderful) to help you. You might want to talk with a lawyer to get things in order if you have not done so for both of you. I found a site on that is helpful. Also, the Counsel of Aging in your area can be helpful for resources. Calling his doctor too and asking for home health services, they might offer some help, tips etc. I was told that they will not tell you what they can offer, you have to ask., so you might want to talk with your son and write a list of concerns as he might see things differently. I care for my mom and I am 30 years younger than she and I can tell you it takes a toll on me and I am not to the hard part yet, this is why I am working so hard now to take care of as many things on the home. I am also on a few caregiving groups on FB, I find it helpful at times, depressing at times too. But, I think they offer suggestions that they find and learn.

Now, today I plan to get the label on the leaf quilt on and get it ready to mail out. USPS is taking at least 2 weeks on a 2-3 day shipping, so I might send it out by UPS. I asked the gal I am sending it to which she would prefer.

Riana, after dinner last night I worked in my sewing room on the decluttering.  I did the 2 tables and the floor.  I am ready to sandwich a Baby Boy Quilt when I need a little break.

Zoe, I feel I could open with the same words you used:  so many Drs.' appts and medical issues.  My son is so helpful - he took us downtown to the eye Dr. yesterday.  Now we are ready whenever the blood technician arrives.  Then I have a meds problem to sort out at the pharmacy and speak to Doug's Dr. about stopping his blood thinners.  He is so weak and frail.  I have to do everything for him.  But I really want to take care of him well - he's had a lifetime of taking care of me.

Zoe, don't foget that your mom was raised in a whole different era, when it was considered " insulting" to be paid for doing a favor for a friend or neighbour. Now adays a little giftie is a perfect reward for someone stepping up to help out. You're lucky to have a neighbour who cares. I hope you make sure there's plenty of " on- going -project " storage in your new studio. Be sure to dedicate shelves for project boxes and a hang rod for hangers.

So many doctors appointments the past two weeks and now the doctor wants to do a endoscopy next week, I am fine with that and a neighbor said he would help me out. He will leave work to help me-- I will plan to give him a gift card for someplace close. My mom said she would feel offended if someone gave her something, thoughts?  I just never want to take advantage of anyone. The hardest part of this will be that I cannot use some of my medications I need for my asthma, and I am concerned that this might cause me choking issues before next week. I am sure I will manage, it just will not be fun.

On quilting, I am not able to concentrate this week.  I found a cute Grinch quilt online, I plan to remove the back and pull out the hand ties, then make this wider. What I really like that this person did was is they did not use any binding, they just had both edged even and sewed then together. It looks very nice, too bad I am pulling it out.

Looking good! Riana.  The Dr. arranged for the blood lab to sent someone to our home on Thursday to do a blood test on Doug.  We did not think that he could survive going outside and standing in line for a long period of time.

Progress... but now to get it to " teen" size for CHEO, l'll need to get in some height, as it needs to be a rectangle.
