If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

Hello all ~ catching up again ... we have all been busy sewing .. lots to look at ! I have been working steadily clearing my table, one pile left to go to VA, making progress on quilts for son's girls, Doug's daughter's kids (x3) is in progress, and then I have 2 for daughter and one for nephew .. I will definitely have to take my girl in for a holiday spa day :) I am trying to make the last row on an elephant quilt, floating appliqued fabric embroidery elephants, which are darn cute. Did sash between blocks and rows, but this last row the elephant was taller so have to float it differently - hoping that the cute quilting pattern will make it not seem so odd ..  what do you think ?  I cannot add a 'row' sash due to the height of the corner elephant, so the sash will only be above the middle and right hand blocks .. will it be terrible ?  This little one is only 1, it will be used I hope and of no concern ..

Riana, I'm jealous - you have a Go Baby!  I wonder if I'd use one if I had one.  We don't use dryer sheets so I couldn't sew strips to one.  I could use Ricky Timms soft interfacing I have lots of sheets.

Meant to say "live" instead of "lie" in my last comment.  Freudian slip - it is a bit untrue! Haha!

Wilma, I looked at the site of My Girlfriends Quilt Shoppe.  It looks like a very nice store.  I wish that I was into machine embroidery.

I spoke to my daughter on-line yesterday.  No wild fires in her area of central B.C.  She is very busy canning and doing baking to sell at their weekly marketplace, besides her animals and farm garden.  She kept back 50 chickens from the slaughterers because they were small.  She fattened them up and slaughtered them herself.  They are for her because she can't sell them.  She also has a full-time job selling school supplies.  I was teasing her that we'd come and lie with her and I'd help her with her chores.  Can you imagine that?  I'd be as useless as (you know the rest of the saying) LOL

Prayers for Zoe and all those affected by hurricane Sally.

Riana, I talk on-line with a new quilter, named Nicole, who lives in Belleville.  She shops at the Fabricland in Belleville and at a quilt shop on Hwy. #2.

I looked at the classes offered by Sew Steady and I would need to get into ruler work to benefit from the classes.  I would need to buy the Bernina ruler work foot before I started.  Must think about this.

Sewing the last border on my Baby Boy Quilt today.

Zoe is likely without power, so we won't hear from her for a while. Reports show that hur. Sally skimmed along the coast , nearly stalling, dumping buckets of rain ( 8.5" on Pensacola) . Flooding is more of a concern at this time. I hope Zoe lives a bit more inland than the Pensacola Shores area that has extensive flood damage. The hurricane hit land at Gulf Shores Alabama at 5 a.m. Wed. Sept. 16( today) ,  cat 2. Again , extensive damage and flooding. The storm is now still heading nw. over land. Prayers for those who live in the area.

Linda - sorry the air quality is affecting your activities.  That's a real bummer.

Zoe - stay in out of the rain!  Seriously - I pray you and your mom stay safe.

Mary - grumble away!  I like smell of a fire, but don't like constantly breathing that smoke.

For those of you who are on Facebook - check out the Sew Steady page.  There are free tutorials just about every day of the week, and the video is available for viewing later.  Most of it involves different ways to use the Westalee rulers, but you learn other things, too.  The one I watched recently was a spider web wall hanging, but the finishing technique was very different - basically a facing rather than a binding, and the corners for hanging with a yardstick or dowel were included.  That's something I'm going to use.

Cat 1 Sally is heading our direction, it is building strength as it is only moving 2 mph.  I am worried ! I have never heard such winds, and rains and watching the pines bend back and forth.. tornadoes possible.. my mom said not to worry, she went to bed. I will be up all night long.  This is not comfortable!!!
