UFOs

If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

I bought it from a company called Bug fabric in Washington state. I guess while I am waiting, I can wrap Christmas gifts.

So nice that you could take your mom out to lunch with 2 friends and have fun, Zoe.  My mom passed when she was 81.  She would be 95 this year.  I can't imagine what it would be like talking to her at that age.  She would be happy for me, but she would be sad for some of her descendants and happy for others.

Zoe, Essentiel Fabrics' site has some good ideas for panels.  Where did you order from?

Riana and Elizabeth, it sounds like you all made real life new friends. I gal from another group and I became friends and we have kept in touch through all of life's challenges. It is such fun when you make a new friend, even though you have spoken on here often. I am thrilled for you both.

I took my 87 yr old mom out for lunch with two neighbors that she has known over the years but had never gone out with. We had such a happy time. It was nice to recall how important it is to include others in our lives. After my mom's husband died and I moved in with her, we both lost the people who we were used to being around. So, that was such fun. She woke with a smile and stated how much fun that was. With all of the doctor's visits, and workers here, it was nice to take a break for "fun".

When I came home, I was able to look at the last panel quilt that I need to get done. I waited till it told me what it wanted to become. It is a dollhouse panel and though I did not really like the doll's that can be stitched by it, I decided that this is what it needs, but I also found some outside dog's playing with kits, then I found the kite fabric in the sky alone, and then a green one in the collection I can add to this. It is for my 2 yr old great niece and wanted it to have fun and movement.  Now, the hard part... waiting for the fabric to arrive.

How fun to hear about your meeting and day together, Liz and Riana! (I hope it's okay for me to call you this. No one but Riana seems to do it!) I am sure that no matter what you gave Riana, she will do wonderful things with it! I know that meeting Beth in person was a big day for me! In a perfect world, we would all be able to hop over to see any of us at any given time! Wouldn't that just be perfect?!  <sigh>

Oh, Elizabeth, don't you just love scaring Hubby half to death like that.  When I lived in Florida I belonged to a little Bee, we called ourselves "The Ladybugs", he said we should have been the "Ladynuts".  He was probably right, but boy, we had a lot of fun.  I also belonged to another little Bee called "The Material Girls" but it was a lot tamer.  We all belonged to a big guild, 165 members, some pretty rowdy old ladies sometimes, but, we had a lot of fun and got a lot done.  We did have 2 men that belonged to the guild, 2 very brave men and they managed to survive.  They were both very talented quilters as well.

I was helping Hubby fold the laundry after I came back from exercising in the pool, and I told him that I invited the entire group to come and visit. He got a little worried that I meant now and all at once. Haha!  I love to get him going!  Maybe  if Gail arranges that day we will all meet next week here, Doug will run away from home. This is a ROFLOL!

How wonderful that you were able to meet and spend time together doing what we all love to do.  Elizabeth so good that you were able to give Riana a bag full of goodies that I'm sure we will all see finished into some beautiful quilts.  It made me think how wonderful it would be if we all could meet together one day, what a fun time it would be.  Can't wait to see the PHD bag.  I'm sure we will all be jealous.

Sounds like you both had a lovely time. Can't wait to see the projects you gave Riana. She's very creative.

Hi Everyone!

Yes, we had a great time!  Riana and I recognized each other right away.  We both look like our avatars.  I took her on a tour of our condo.  Hubby "cooked" us coffees and we left him in peace playing solitaire while we sewed in the party room.  We both can sew quite fast even while talking the whole time.  We worked on my Pat Sloan BOM that I have renamed "Hawaiian Fantasy".

Riana made me a lovely bag to hold my PHD project.  I will post a photo tomorrow when I download my photos from my camera.  I was really afraid to post the photo of the bag since you will all want one once you see it. I gave her a bag of all the projects I did not want to finish because she loves a challenge.  I wouldn't let her open it until she was home because I did not want to see her face when she discovered what was in the bag.  Haha!

We had dinner at Swiss Chalet.  It is Hubby and my favourite close restaurant.  We like the festive special that is available at this time of year.  Riana took her the French fries she could not eat home in a doggy bag.  She has a special recipe for dealing with stale, cold French fries!  Then, we talked non-stop until Riana had to leave.  Doug and I tried to figure out the best routes to the airport and get her back home once she picked up Dave.  She has assured me that it all worked out!

Thank you, Riana, for your visit!  Now if the day sounds good to any of you, include me in your schedule the next time you are in Ottawa.  Doug and I would love to play hosts again.

We had a great time, and her hubby Doug is also such a gracious host. We are two chatterboxes, and he mostly listened, ran coffee machine , took photos . Then we had a lovely dinner out. Liz took me downstairs to the activity room so we could stretch out to sew on her ufo ( we got 4 rows  on it sewn). She even sent me off with a care package of bits & parts to use , plus quilty magazines l can read as we trek south end of month. I made her a tote for her PHD challenge. She may wish to post photo ( that's up to her).
