UFOs

If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

Mary, if you can find some lime green or celery green, that'll spark up the mauves & purples. Maybe you can find another quilter & trade those for a color you prefer...a good suggestion for a swap in the swap or quilting bee group?

Riana and Dee, I just watched a documentary about the sinking of the USS Indianapolis and the men that spent 5 days in the ocean and by chance were found my a pilot who was flying a plane and saw a head in the water. Over 900 men died and over 300 saved after 5 days in the deep. Some were eaten by sharks. Several of the men with tears told of the memories they had of those days and how they can never forget it. They were attached by the Japanese. The suffering was unbearable.  It was so heart rending.  Thank you for your labors of love in behalf of our Veterans.

Riana ~ I love your Quilt of Honor .. makes me think of a pattern I have with that in the center that I never have done (City Stitcher). I had to take a class on it as the pattern was written incorrectly lol  Still haven't done it  hahahaha

Made an album for 2019 QOV day … lots of fun, I was on my feet straight through cutting, squaring, advising, make a few ooops on stars .. but overall, just a great day of sewing.  Thankful it is only 1x a year  :)

This is a pattern by Lisa Sutherland, Quilt Jubilee.com .. she has some interesting patterns and this one can be put together in a variety of ways. I don't like QOV size requirements as most men are 6' and taller, so I add more blocks or double borders, solid and print to make the dimension for a good wrapping.  Can't wait to see all these quilts done :)

Mary, If you have a lot of it, maybe use the mauve as your neutral and really jazz it up with purple, fuchsia, magenta, orange, pinks in the blocks - think Kaffe Faucett fabric. It might surprise you!

Cleaning out my fabric stash.  Just throwing out any fiddly stuff I can't get a 6 " square out of. Dangle away participle.  Lots of irregular scraps just that size-setting that size aside to be cut into 6'' squares. Finding purple impossible to  sort by color as is blue green.  Dislike all the mauve that seems to have accumulated, what does one do for a good accent with that depressing color?  Have lots of brown prints to do something with...like that with teal or peach.

We are binge watching Game of Thrones..perfect to quilt to and ignore the ugly bits.

Deanna, loved the photos you posted on Facebook. You gals really were busy on sew day!

Barbara, your Hardy's is a really nice one. Indy and I enjoyed our breakfast there the last time we visited you and Colin in Oshkosh. All your friends were so nice.

I don't get out to eat much anymore but when I do, I love Panda Express, Sweet Tomatoes, and Olive Garden. I was taken to WingStop recently and must say it was delicious! But eating at fast food places means usually taking acid reflux meds later.

I feel like I don't have any energy left to type .. I am back at work and slept Sunday away practically.  We had a great turnout for QOV Sew Day ~ we finished quite a few, and a few have a bit more to do.  But that's ok ~ we only have 5 names for quilts and the rest will be ready when someone gets nominated.  However, I did have the local photographer come to take picx as he usually takes pictures @ the local HS ceremony for Veteran's Day .. now he sees what happens before the award ceremony. I bet we get a lot more nominations flooding in  lol

Will load up some picx later .. have to get more work done, but it is really hard today. 70's outside and sunshine and it's February .. I want to sit outside and get some vitamin D!!

Stitch on !

When we have a coupon we go to Hardy's. lol  We have a nice one in Oshkosh where all the senior hang out in the mornings Mon-Fri.  Even though they are a fast food chain, they have two ladies that go around refilling our coffees. With a coupon they have a 1/3 lb burger for 2.99, made with natural beef. (What ever that means!!) They don't play loud music and people are friendly. The place is clean. We are pretty satisfied with that and we save some money.

Riana, I love to eat at Golden Corral!  I like Applebee's and Chili's too.  But we're not travelling so I haven't been to one in years.  But if I see a commercial for one on T.V. I always tell Hubby that I would like to go.  Here in Ottawa the chains we like are Swiss Chalet, Boston Pizza and Mandarin.  We try to go out once a week.

The Sampler Quilt is done except for the label and pressing the back of the binding.  And Hubby and I have been catching up on our favourite T.V. shows that are on past our bedtime on Rogers On Demand.  I like Manifest and The Good Doctor.

No, Elizabeth, hubby & l seldom eat out, and when we do, it's often Italian or a place with smorgasbord ( like Golden Coral in USA). We're both picky eaters, and cheap to boot, lol! Sounds like you had a great time and a nice meal for her birthday get together.
