UFOs

If you're a REAL quilter, you have at least one UFO (unfinished object) and one WIP (work in progress) stashed in the closet or stacked on a shelf. Maybe you just need quilting suggestions, or maybe a fresh eye from a new online friend can help with block arrangements. How about a UFO swap? Any UFO conversation is welcome.

Gail, it sounds like you're really settled in at your new apartment, especially the sewing area.

Mary, I have done what you did several times, but still I have more than I'll probably ever use.  I am working one using things up.  There have been no major fabric purchases for quite a while.

Riana, the lap quilt is beautiful, it will brighten the day of who ever receives it.  It's amazing what you can do with a few orphan blocks and bits and pieces.  You are amazing!

Barbara, wow another beautiful runner.  You were right about what you told Linda about seeing a great future for all that we have accumulated over time.  The thing is it's not in our future, but maybe some ones  future, just not ours.

I have my Sun Bonnet Sue more that half way quilted, and am working on getting some other blocks turned into tops.  Also working on tops for my Grand Sons for Christmas and doing some hand embroidering when I need a break from quilting.  My fingers get sore after doing some "marathon quilting".  My kids joke about a quilt being special it it has a little tiny blood spot on it from my sore fingers.  I have tried the under thimbles but I can't feel the needle with them.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Such a bright and beautiful lap quilt, Riana! Whoever receives it will be thrilled!

Barbara, no I knew you were giving them away. After moving to my mom's I have had to rethink what I will really use.  Great idea about Nancy's Notions. I may look into that, but I don't have much time to spend on this.  Thank you !

Zoe, It could have sounded like I was go to be collecting. I meant I have machines to give to them.

Linda, I think we stock up on things because we see a great future for them all. But times keeps us from fulfilling all the plans we have for creating.

Our temps are really low here in Wisconsin. Last night we had wind chills of -31 degrees. Brrrrrrrrrr!!

Riana, the person to receive your lap quilt will surely be cheered to have such a gift. It is beautiful and colorful.

Thank you Riana, Ginny, Linda and Elizabeth. Working at the free motion on runners is a little easier then a large quilt. I've been reading up on the grid work and took a few Iquilt classes for grid work. It helps.

Zoe Nancy's Notions at one time collected old machines for a group for adults and children to learn to sew. I think I may do the same. I have some machines yet from the girls club we had.

Reading these threads, if you wanted to you can pass on things to the Extension service as they can use these things to teach kids how to sew- and if you have time you can help them if they set a class up. I did offer a sewing machine, but no one called. Before I give it to charity as I do not want it to get damaged, maybe I can call a school.  Just thinking out loud.
