I hope we're going to have a variety of foods from everyone for our St. Patty's Day party. I'm so looking forward to cheating on my diet!!! For those not into green beer or Guinness. I found a couple recipes for some green spritzers and Shamrock shakes on Pinterest.

Linda, maybe certain counties can opt for or against " daylight savings time". Here, we push our clocks ahead in spring ...this year March 14. It will continue in Ont. Canada until Nov.7th. This willeffect what time Liz and l should arrive. Thanks for letting me know that Arizona does not use daylight savings. I guess we in the north need our longer summer daylight hours!

Irish soccer is really different.  They have goal posts to kick through, as well as the net.  One of our tour guide's sons was playing in the 16-18 yr olds nationals when we were there.  On the day, we had to dress in the proper colors and come home early from our hike to watch them play on TV.  The guide went to see them in person and returned to us in very bad shape the next day. Dads celebrating.

Soccer is more my style, Riana....I can understand it...LOL!!!! I'm sure darts are in order! With my cataracts, I probably couldn't hit the broad side of a barn these days. I'll be more with the singing and dancing myself...not that I can sing a note in tune but after a couple drinks who cares!?! I have an Irish friend (actually he's friends with one of my sons) who every time I walked into the pub would stop singing (he's a performer) and start singing "I'm my own Grandpa" song. It's such a silly song but almost makes sense!!! He sent me a CD when I moved to Arizona with the song on it. I never paid for a drink when he was performing at Mullarkey's.

I'm surprised at your map. Illinois and Wisconsin and parts of Indiana were always 1 hour behind Ohio. They were in the Central time zone. Maybe it's changed? Arizona doesn't change time. Sometimes we are mountain time and others we are pacific time depends what time of the year.

Here's the time zones of north America. Arizona is in the green section ( well of course...because Linda is hosting the St. Paddy's Day shennanigans! Lol!) Anyone living east of her will be attending later in the day. Anyone in red better come an hour early.Linda, l belive there would more likely be a soccer match...cricket is more for the English. I just know there'll be a dart game at the pub...l'm going downstairs right now to practice!

I believe that is 5 pm, Liz. I forget about the time differences. I figure we can have a big potluck/picnic and games (and perhaps a parade?) on the village green and then move on to the pub for singing, dancing, and of course drinking!!! If we were in Ireland, I'm sure earlier in the day there would be a cricket match...lol.

OK.... The party will be on St. Patrick's Day, March 17. Might as well since due to covid we are mostly still isolated and most of us are at home. Party will start at 3 pm Arizona time on the Village Green and continue until who knows when as I'm sure we'll more than likely end up at the pub. More details later.

Liz, l sooo remember Hunt's! The Reward Shoe Store that l managed between 1966 to 1970 was just up/ across the street on Dundas. They always had the door of that narrow shop open, even in winter, as the nut roasters heated it so well. You couldn't walk past lest the aroma of nuts and chocolte drew you in,lol. It was on the way to the bank up on Wellington where l had to make daily deposits.

My daughter, Tammy was proposed to in public at a pub in Picton ( Ont) where she and her guy were partying with on St.Patty's day 5 yr ago. A friend taped it and posted on fb. The look of sheer bewilderment then glee was priceless. This fellow is now my born in Canada , but  very lrish son- in- law. He has a happy smile whenever l see them. 

My internet's been spotty since the big snowstorm here, so when l can, l visit Tiny Town :-))

Mary, when Doug and I were in Ireland we had soup and soda bread for lunch many times. Food was expensive so we contented ourselves with that.  I think  soda bread is different than the brown bread you remember.

Wonder if there is a candy store in Tiny Town?  When I was a kid, there was a store called Hunt's in London (Riana may know it) and on St. Patrick's Day they had a little box that contained a green hard candy snake with a red tongue, a marzipan potato covered in cinnamon, and a shamrock (I forget what kind of candy it was, maybe chocolate).  I loved to get one of those.

I make a mean Irish scone! OK, an Irish St. Pat's party it is!!! March 17 is a Wednesday or we can have it the first day of spring which is March 20. Let me know and I'll get things pulled together. I'll make Irish scones, Mary will make Irish brown bread (yummy!). We need Kerry Gold butter to go with it, Mary. Elizabeth is making green tea. Paul can be bartender and serve the Guinness and whatever. Get your kilts and practice your jigs! And maybe some River Dance too!!

When I was a a teenager, there was a hugh green statue of a man holding the world in one hand and a family in the other, in front of a museum. On St Patricks Day some college kids painted big green foot prints crossing the street to the statue of a ballerina on the other side of the road. They got caught just before they finished and had to clean up their art work. But there was some remains of paint we could still see. Though not exactly a good thing to do, we all enjoyed the humor of it.

There must be a pub in tiny town.  Paul, who is Scots/Irish, would love it.  

 When we were in the pub is a small hotel in Ireland, the friendly woman I was sitting by asked me what I liked best about Ireland.  I told her I was addicted to the brown bread.  She was the hotel baker, and she ran off to get her recipe for me.  It was all Irish brands, and I still haven't gotten close to what I loved so.

If we have a St. Pat's party, I will try baking brown bread again.

Personally, I don't like ale or beer, and I'm allergic to green tea. I'll have to stick to mint or prickly pear tea.

I visited the Guinness brewery when I was in Ireland and I didn't like the warm beverage we were given.  It might have been ale at room temperature.  I have also had green beer at the CPR Hotel (called the Ceeps) in London, Ontario.  It was cold and was real beer with food colouring.  Let's just settle for green tea! LOL  I am wearing green today so I'll be able to dress up again for St. Patrick's Day.

Does Tiny Town have a Village Green and a pub? These things take place at the local pub that must serve Guinness.

I'm not exactly Irish....I'm part Welsh. When I was much younger, my cousins and I did Scottish jigs. Two of my cousins were part Scot. In our small town families were close....everyone's aunts, uncles, and grandparents were shared by all. In other words, I had a lot of aunts, uncles and grandparents that  I wasn't really related to except by marriage via a cousin's other side of the family....does that make sense? It's been soooo long ago since I last danced a jig or a sword dance....or wore a kilt. My one cousin was a MacDonald and the other a Warren. I can easily find the MacDonald tartan, not sure about the other.

Hey! Who's got some Irish blood in their veins here in Tiny Town? They can host an lrish shindig ( whatever they call them!) And provide the place and music...we can all dress in green. How about a " talent show?" Bring an instrument, sing a tune, perform a "jig"....
