Inspiring Quilters, Stitch by Stitch
Tiny Town is our safe haven when life gets crazy. We are all healthy and happy here, because we know our neighbours and friends living here are quilters too. To buy a small house in Tiny Town, you must perform one random act of kindness , and to buy a larger home ( 2 chimnies), you'll be performing 2 random acts of kindness. All houses have large sewing rooms, and have been built to last.Large homes have storage for more stash, but smaller homes have bigger yards. Here you can have housemates from your past, alive or otherwise, your present spouce ( only if you wish, lol) as well as pets from past or present. I know you will be responsible pet owers and thoughtfull neighbours, because this is just that kind of place. Only houses on the back are for sale.

I got special phone calls from my ND kids and gr'kids on V Day. Those unexpected calls are the best! Give a person a reason to smile for the rest of the day.
The end of the month still has some interesting celebrations. Any sound good to you gals?

I can't remember the last time I received something for Valentine's day. I think we need a Tiny Town event to break up the winter doldrums. Any ideas?
I just had to escape to Tiny Town for a while...too much snow at our other house! Did anyone receive anything special for Vantentine's Day? Mine was completely uneventful...but on fb, a " memory" from last yr showed l'd received both chocolate and flowers...that made me smile. I guess l got enough last yr. to do me for this yr too, lol.
Ginny that recipe is similar to the one l found...it uses real butter instead of shortening, has you slightly flatten the balls of dough after rolling, and has the lower temp. I'm sure yours is tried and true, as are most of our " old favourites" from stained, ragged but loved cook books ,lol.My 53 yr old " 5 roses flour" cookbook is missing it's cover and looks like it survived a cyclone...but l use it constantly :-))
It's beautiful at your house, Riana! We have had so little snow this year. It worries me for the coming summer crops.
My "go-to" cookie recipes come from an old Girl Scout cookie cookbook that my mom bought from the neighbor girl in the early 60's GS fundraiser. It is a very sad looking book, now, but I use it all the time and am very careful with it. I have edited this recipe, to increase the flour by 2 T. and lower the temp to 400 F, but they will work as originally written, as well.
That sounds just right. Thank you Riana.
That looks similar to the one I used. I think mine came from Taste of Home. No time to look today.
https://pin.it/4Ro8UR8 if l got the link right, this is a good recipe for snickerdoodles.
Mary, I have a snicker-doodle recipe somewhere. Will see if I can find it. It was one of my boys favorites. Been a long time since I've made them. I may have given it to one of the DILs.
We are breaking heat records for this time of year here in Tucson and Phoenix....80's!!!
We got a generous 2 feet, but it is being rained away. 50's today. Our vital high country snow pack is up to 70% of normal, so we need more moisture. We are watching Downton Abbey....I love the clothes.
Paul needs a snicker-doodle recipe.
Melanie, l live just north and west of you in Ontario. Liz lives in Ottawa, 4 hr north of me...we've had the same prolonged cold , but only 10" of snow. Not sure what Mary has as yet...she said there were blizzard warnings in the Sierras of Calif. I guess we're all hiding out in Tiny Town ,lol. Love that retro cup! How about sharing the recipe? I make great peanut butter cookies, but the classic ones with fork marks:-))
I love the Signed, Sealed, Delivered series...don't have Hallmark anymore tho. I've been watching some of the old tv series too....Walker Texas Ranger, MacGuyver, A-Team, Rockford Files, Renegade, Leverage, Love Boat and others.
I probably need to destash some of my fabric cabinets. I could live to 200 and probably never use everything...LOL!!!!
Linda, my daughter bought me that cup a couple years ago and I just rediscovered it while cleaning cabinets. Amazing what you find when you empty the cabinets out. Lots of things to recycle/give away, but I'm keeping the cup.
What a lot of movie trivia this week!. All my old favorites - loved 7b7b, West Side Story, anything Danny Kaye. Guess I really just love old movies - I'm into musicals and happy endings instead of gore. I DO like sci-fi, too.
The weather has been so cold and my husband has been home from school, so we have watched a lot of old stuff. Andy Griffith, Gunsmoke. He also found a series "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" that we have been watching, too.
Those look so good, Melanie. Love your queen mom cup.
Wow - this is my third try at posting a message here. I did not abandon Rose Haven, but would really love to be there today, It's about 5 degrees with snow and more snow! About 18 inches so far this week.
Today I'm having coffee with peanut butter blossoms, my husband's favorite (actually, anything with sugar in it is his fave). Finally found a way to load a picture. Not as easy with OS-Big Sur.
